Different global chats for different modes?
When i played Standard, the chat was going all the time. Now that i am on SSF, there is literally nothing going on in chat. Absolutely nothing. Is that just a bug or do the modes have different global chats and most people are just playing Standard?

You got put in a different global chat when you restarted. There are several global chats going on at once, some more popular than others. Some will be dead without anyone chatting in them. If you want to chat in the most active ones, a low number like 1-5 will have the most amount of participants.

So we have to write /global X every game start for that?

No. Usually it will put you in the last global chat you were in, but sometimes if that is full or nobody else is in the chat or whatever other reason, it will put you in another one. You can see which one you are in if you mouse over the "global" text.
