PC Couch coop, how to do it?

I have steam controller and want to make 2 players couch coop, first keyboard +mouse, second controller, but no matter what I try, I can only play alone

For couch co-op, you must use two controllers.

this is very bad because WASD on the keyboard is 1000 times better than the controller, but even if I connect 2 controllers, coop still doesn't work

You definitely can.

you must use the controller first to choose a character, and then after that use your second controller. If that doesn't work, I don't know what's wrong with your game, lol!

Anyone got this to work? I'm trying with 2 controllers and it's not working for me - it's recognizing the controller as 1 controller
