That is actually a good reminder, thank you. Yeah gem quality level and socket count does make sense. The need to keep it does make sense. And I can understand that you may want to lower your mana cost as your build changes.
For all but the gem quality and socket count, the fix is pretty easy with just using uncut lower level gems. But gem quality and socket count are big things for builds. Just for those reasons alone yeah it does make sense to have an ability to lower your current gem level. Thank you for the reminder.
However, I can not upgrade a spirit buff because of the requirements and all i have is a lvl 14 spirit gem when all i need a level 7 as that is all my character can support.
You should just be able to pick what level you want from higher once.
You shouldn't be forced to farm low level areas in the hopes of getting that one gem drop you need.
Quality of life is a thing.
And you dont want to waste those skill gem with 4 or 5 socket.
Am I missing something?
Your suggestion (as an example): Use a level 10 gem to lower an 18 to 10
Current setup: use that 10 to make a 10.
Wouldn't both have the same issue you state? That you need to find a 10?
we need a vendor with low level skills gems around the middle of the campaign like we did in poe with our access to all gem level 1.
we need something similar.
If not having easy access to lower level gems or at least having something similar to regret orbs or scouring orbs from POE 1 to modify our skill gems was a design choice and not an oversight (which still merits a few questions at least and some eyebrows raised), I'm getting even more concerned about the direction of the game than I already am.
If I ever need more, with even just basic magic find, if I go to a lower area, the mobs vomit gems of the level of that area at me. I stopped picking them up unless they are 19/20. As I got dozens of each other level, even after using some on my 2nd and 3rd characters.
I started selling off lower ones to the vendor for 25 gold to get rid of them to make room for skill gems (that 500 limit). Unsure how people don't have them falling out of their pockets.
One of the more expensive items in the game is low level skill and spirit gems because builds often incorporate 1 or 2 skills "off spec" for a utility reason. Usually its the "cast on" spells.
With 2 characters level 90+ and having had to delete gems from my gem tab multiple times (500 is not enough with this gem system) to make room before we started to have access to loot filters that we could edit, I still have very little uncut gems that are lower than level 10, especially uncut spirit ones.
You're saying you'd go back to farm act 2 to get level 6 to 9 gems once you're finished with the campaign? Perhaps this is just me, and maybe I'm misinterpreting what you meant, but that's really not my idea of something even remotely fun.
