Bro, I remember PoE1's beta, people were getting clapped in 1 shot by Rhoa charges, not even rare Rhoas, but normal ones. Noobs were getting steamrolled by Rhoas right out of the gate, the salt was real.
I hope they never nerf these trials so I can keep taking noobs to the cleaners.
poe2, now, 100% is easier than poe1 launch, and for quite a while after.
Day 1, poe2 was medium-difficulty.
In OG poe1, most builds had to take nothing but health nodes or else you would get constantly 1-shot.
It literally got the nickname "path of health nodes".
It absolutely isn't.
Imo there have been very few points where poe was hard from alpha to now. Tedious yes (as in get the health or get bent and the horrbile map system early on) But still pretty easy as long as you built accordingly.
PoE 2 is actually easier but relies on reaction times and the ability to track what is going on on-screen. It is harder on the psyche because you see other people with less gear, less stats, etc and they clear stuff 1st try. This is a harder pill to swallow. More so if you are just coming here for the 'souls-like d4 killer' trend and don't understand how both genres work independently, much less cohesively.
PoE 2 seems FAR more forgiving when it comes to builds, fixing builds and allowing for less-than-meta builds to get further in the game. You can't just follow a guide and get 1 button meta builds from the web and immediately oneshot the whole way to maps. You can get op builds before they're nerfed but ur still gonna hit a skill wall. You can, however, use skill, positioning and good ole-fashion luck to get further than your gear would get you in PoE 1.
If you don't remember the rhoas, plz don't say PoE 1 was easier in beta. Jamanra's ice wind skill giving you issue? Try walking out to map Act 1, area 2 during beta. There was no dodge roll or cute little 'plz stand here' invulnerability.
Hold on to your Iron Helm and 2 spell gems, things are about to get good.
If you look at some of the poe threads this is still the case for a lot of new comers, getting smoked by hillock, after 2 weeks they eventually pass hillock then complain about the stun lock deaths by RHOA's lol, poe is not as simple as games such as d4 where the hand holding experience is almost cinematic, while others don't want to learn the basics and just blame the game for bad game design because the boss doesn't spend half a minute in a cinematic animation giving them enough time to roll out of the way or throwing 20 legendary items at them after they kill it.
