i7 4930k - 1070Ti - 32g Ram - Win 10.
game ran well smooth at 54 fps 1440p for 4 hours of play, default settings.

Just now after taking a town portal, i am having sudden and seemingly incoherent issues with stuttering. Initially i thought it was network, but the graphs are showing high spiking MS on the CPU. All system temperatures are at light load values, cpu running at light load 34%. None of the previous areas i went through are playable for me now. No signs of the system being taxed at all, i can tab out, and do other tasks unhindered by the game runing.

It’s a CPU usage issue. I have a 14900K and a 4090 and the game was crashing on every loading screen due to cpu over utilization and spiking to TDP during loading screens. There is something going on in the game with that. I’m very familiar with bios and overlocking adjustments so I undervolted the cpu and limited utilization max during the game and it fixed my issue entirely. Haven’t crashed once since. Yes granted this absolutely should not be necessary to play the game but until they figure out why the poor optimization is happening in loading screens this was my fix.

Happening on my AMD 7800X3D / 7900XtX rig, consistantly crashes on change of map / area. Stable until latest update.!!!!.

Other than RAM, and mayhap mobo(670E Steel Legend here), our set up is very similar, even the same GPU and I have zero issues.

You guys are scaring me. 😅 I've been playing along okay on my i7 4770k. I get pretty stable 40-60fps with medium settings. Chuggy sometimes, but playable. I've been watching my CPU latency sit at about twice that of my much newer GPU, so decided I'd gotten enough use out of this hardware and ordered an i7 14700KF.

I'm gonna be pissed if I start getting lockups and have to put all of the old hardware back in 🤣🤣

I’m on the new 9800x3d, supposedly the best gaming CPU money can buy right now, and a 4080 super and I crash on at least 50% of the loading screens with my CPU spiking to 100% utilization.

It's obviously the game...no way this many people have improper setups and run so many other games without issue.
Samfisch 26 DIC 2024 a las 3:51 p. m.
My solution to everyone, turn it off "prozessor multithreading" (gameoptions)

16ram is plenty... old i9 here with a 1080TI and 16g ram. Runs good, looks and runs better then d4 bigtime. Nowhere near max gpu/cpu usage. This is prob an amd issue judging from the amount of posts by amd users lately.
Mix-Master 26 DIC 2024 a las 4:03 p. m.
@ OP, are you running windows 11 24H2 perchance ? there was a recent update that is affecting the cpu schedular making cpu usage in some games to be way higher, I have had this happen myself. (KB5048667)

I have the new 9800x3d, today 2 map loadings 2 system freeze, then unfreeze. This have is hot trash in terms of stability the devs needs to fix its crap.
Mix-Master 26 DIC 2024 a las 5:39 p. m.
Since i got rid of windows 11 24H2 not had a single crash in over 15hrs, where it used to crash every hour.

I also updated to the latest hotfix nvidia drivers which are for stabilty

You're probably right, since I have a second system with an i7 8700 and 16gb and 1070gtx there is no problem. Only with the AMD 5800x and the 3070GTX there only crashes or the fans run at full speed. Only since I switched off processor multithreading have I had any more problems. Strange.

This wouldn't be the first game Windows didn't play well with an AMD cpu on

13900k UNDERVOLTED by 0.075 and a 4090 and zero issues. If you're using an AMD card or cpu and having issues, try using Vulkan instead of DirectX.

towns are pretty poorly optimized in general i noticed. well it mainly seems to be the model count. but there are some areas that run far worse than others as well like that act3 area where u drain all the waterways
