GGG is owned by China, they want you to use their CPUs and not Intel or AMD.

I encourage all those affected by the PC crash to leave a negative review on Steam. This is a widespread issue and GGG hasn't addressed it in 3 weeks. Check the official POE forums Early Access Bug Reports. There are thousands of people affected by the crashes.

A few threads I have read points this out due to incompatibility caused by the Windows 11 24H2 update. If you are experiencing crashes try turning off Engine Multithreading in PoE2 in the graphics settings - not ideal but it seems to have stopped the crashes on my end, on an i7-9700K. The game still use up to 100% CPU during loading screens but drops down back to manageable levels during gameplay once the initial loading is done. Another work around that works for some leaving Engine Multithreading on but manually turning cores 0 and 1 on your CPU off for the game. The game would probably still crash, but at least it won't completely freeze your system, requiring you to do a hard reset.

I also have AMD and i have been getting full pc crashes like one out of 10 maps i load into. I am on DX12 though maybe ill try switching to vulcan since you say its better

Using Process Lasso to always remove cpu affinity for cores 1 and 2 (PathOfExileSteam.exe) will stop the 100% cpu PC hard crash.

But Poe2 still crashes sometimes when loading as usual.

At least now I can end task the thing and not risk my rig

i have the same problem. every "fix" that works for alot of other people doesnt work for me.
Lasso / BSE . Disable Cpu 0/1 in Task manager and vulcan/dx11/dx12 nothing works. :( i feel like disable multithreading could work but i dont want to play with 20fps
Same here, I tried all those things and still would get my PC to hard freeze. Turning multithreading off turns this game unplayable. It has been 2 weeks since. Still waiting for a more permanent fix.

The permanent fix for the hard freezes at the moment is to do a clean install of Win 11 23H2, as the issue is caused by a bug in 24H2.

The other option is to wait for Microsoft to fix this. Your option to roll back to 23H2 is probably long gone by now, it has a 10 day time limit.

bro thats not good! under volt your CPU your pushing your PC too hard.

I've build PC's for 15 years and had heat issues myself on builds that i solved every time, not once was the game to blame. The game is either just demanding too much from your PC CPU to handle, its getting over juiced or your coolers not strong enough. I got my temps from 90-70 one one build just by tweaking power settings. Intel and ASUS were feeding my CPU 1.4V and i took it back to 1.2V and OC'd it and all heat issues were gone.

Look at some other options before just saying game bad.

They literally acknowledged the issue.

Hello Guys,

I scrolled down all 14 pages in hope to find a problem similar to mine and on the other hand to find some systematic behind tons of bug reports. Unfortunately I didnt success in no one of those two goals. People are playing with absolutely different hardware - from low budget one to absolutely high end and end up the same - with crashes and freezes including critical temperatures.

So, may be someone will be interested in my bug report as it is quite different to the most ones here. First, few words about my PC. I am using some kind of older hardware - Asus P9X79 Deluxe with Intel Xeon E5-2697 V2 onboard, including 12 Cores, 24 Threads and 30 MB L3 Cash. Yes, its an old guy, but I like him and he can easy beat up a lot of younger generations. Nevertheless I am playing all newest games, including Stalker 2, Cyberpunk etc. in 4K and do not have any problems. And yes, I am changing my graphic cards regularly - each 1-2 years. It is 4070 Ti SUPER at the moment and will be time for the new upgrade in a year I think.

Anyway, I was very surprised when I first run the PoE2 and started "enjoining" stable 12 FPS slideshow. And, I mean, serious, very stable 12 FPS independent from graphic / game settings (1080p or 4K, windowed or fullscreen) and also absolutely independent from in-game activities (number of monsters, used skill / moving or just standing around) Changing from minimum to maximum settings, switching between resolutions and render types did not brought any changes - "stable" 12 FPS.

And now the most interesting part - my CPU had around 15-20% load while game were running and a temperature about 40°C while using the maximum graphic settings. And this is the main difference to the most cases I was reading here about. My CPU was kinda "sleeping" using only a small part of its full power. While searching for a solution I started AIDA64 (its a diagnostic tool in case somebody never heard of it) and driven by a curiosity I started the benchmark stability test in AIDA64 that is made to test a system at its limits. And as I have seen how the CPU load rises to 100%, I realized, that I forgot to turn off the game, and it was still running in the background. As I switched to the game window, I was shocked by what I have seen - the game was running at stable 30-45 FPS at maximum graphic settings. I did not believe my eyes. I stopped the benchmark and the FPS dropped to values of 12-15 back again. From now on I can call my CPU Benjamin Button xD. No, just a joke. Nevertheless it brought me to the idea, that its not about the hardware itself, but some kind of missing instructions. And as I did not find any better solution, i was playing PoE2 while running AIDA64 benchmark test in the background. Until....

...Until I got an idea to install a clean Win 11, as I was still using Win 10 on my gaming PC (never touch a running system ;) an it run totally well until PoE2)....

Long story short: All my problems were gone when I installed Win 11 and started the game on the new system. My CPU is still loaded to 20% ingame, it is still around 40°C and I get stable 60 FPS in 4K at maximum graphic settings.

So I decided to share my experience, maybe it will bring somebody to some new ideas. I could even share a video with AIDA64 benchmark issue in case somebody is interested.

11700k here and it jumps to 100% in load screens bad, temps rocket to 90+C for a few seconds, during maps its 70-80% with 61C temps.

I've ran games that 100% it other than PoE 2 but they didnt cause the temps to spike that high.

People will always say its a user issue but sometimes just like with space marine 2 and the CPU issues they had over there it can sometimes be a game issue.

Darktide had the same problem for a few months before it was finally solved.

I've been crashing on load screen for towers and misc t16 maps. Hangs up whole pc and have to manual reboot. Was happening before and after windows update only since most recent patch.

I use POEuncrasher: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher

Fixed the complete freezes for me entirely.
I also switched to Vulkan from DX12.
The same problem. I found this option on the Internet, on Steam, in the launch parameters, specify -useallavailablecores, this will allow the game to use all processor cores.
I can't guarantee security, but it helped me a little
. P.S. Setting the frame per second limit to 60 and turning the monitor to 60 Hz practically fixed the hang. The picture is worse, but more playable

The game barely runs and its getting worse in time. I can't even play with groups, the textures/shaders take so long to load the maps are done before mine even starts doing T15 runs. I have tried everything suggested, and other things I haven't ready also. I am an IT professional for a living. It is 100% the software and cannot be hardware related, when it seems hundreds or thousands of people are all complaining of the same main problem. I never have this issue on other games, my setup is solid. At the very least I would expect to see a huge boost by lowering graphics settings and disabling many options, but that actually seems to make it worse. The only reason a game would lockup an entire OS, and force a soft reset of the system, is just a bug. It's hogging way too much CPU, unintended, and that is causing the OS to miss some sort of critical input. I checked my event log in the system, and as it pertains to this game i get event Id 153,,,, error for nvlddmkm.sys - which is the nvidia graphics driver (never happened prior to POE2). I believe the game has some bug that makes it incompatible with the driver, causing a bottleneck. Hopefully that helps the devs figure out a fix or work with Nvidia on it.
I am 18+ hours in and not a single crash. My CPU usage caps at 60% with an average about 23%... I have seen as low as 9%. Granted, my build is over 7 years old so I will probably get better usage if I bring my PC up to date...
