Dodge to cancel is completely understandable, missing a cast because you pressed new spell expecting it to queue next is garbage design without a way to toggle this behavior
I really hope GGG is listening to the right feedback and not all the useless skill issue stuff.
This is an action Rpg emphasis on the action part.
Skill queuing is lame go back to your MMOS
Try Barrage for an even worse example
Dodge rolling could be the one thing cancelling all queued actions, just saying.
This game has plenty of support gems adding a substential cooldown to the skill, and having a skill not cast because you acted a little fast feels terrible. And can be detrimental in attrition battles such as boss fights.
The Mace skill set has an ability called rolling slam, it's a a two hit jumping slam attack where the first hit is massive stun build and the second pure damage. Often when built right the first hit will prime the victim for a heavy stun,
This skill works in tandem with another skill called Boneshatter. which with the right supports executes that heavy stun, Often its important to recognise your opponent is primed for stun and then you cancel the second attack which has a huge wind up with the quick upper cutting boneshatter. it's an important one two combo for the warrior class especially early game that when speced right clears the screen due to it's shock wave capability.
You time the advancing enemy with the first over head hit of rolling slam and cancel into the uppercut and the subsequent overpower combo blows up the screen
If how the game works at a fundamental level were changed here and the game queued the skill instead it would deeply hurt the warrior class and how it's played, which is already in need of some love compared to other classes.
Also Active block is slept on, one of the best defensive layers in the game if not the best and it's also used to cancel skills at any time into active defence!
it's not that hard, learn to time your attacks properly. Also don't be surprized if most of the future rpgs also work this way. it's the right way forward for the genre.
be more lenient on the cancel window and don't abort a cast that is 99,87% through
Barrage feels like ass. You have to be so intentional about it, then its accuracy is complete ass sometimes and just flies wherever the ♥♥♥♥ and you only hit like two arrows if you aren't right next to the target. My other favorite is you deliberately activate it, then deliberately highlight your target, and the whole volley just shoots off to the left of a huge stationary target.
