Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Let me "Basic" attack with my current weapon.
Currently, the game requires players to dedicate skill slots to basic attacks for each weapon they want to use. This creates unnecessary friction, especially for builds that rely on switching between weapons during gameplay. For example, I play a warrior with the passive ability that grants 500% stun rate on every fifth attack. I frequently switch between a one-handed mace and shield for mapping and a two-handed mace for bosses. Every time I switch weapons, I need to reconfigure my skill slots to ensure I can attack with the appropriate weapon.

When you say skill slots do you mean the bits in the bottom righthand corner? They shouldn't disappear

If you're talking about skill slots in the skill page being disabled, it's possible that one of your weapons has attributes on it and swapping it makes you lose those attributes disabling skills

Now in the skill page, by the DPS number click on the arrow and you can select an individual weapon set for each skill (make sure say your totems are only using your two handed weapon etc)

i talk about that i have to use 2 different basic attacks " in the bottom righthand corner " instead of basic attacking with the weapon i currently use. why do i need to switch my basics attacks again if i press X to switch weapons with a hotkey?

and yes i guess its just annoying 4 ppl that use stun buildup on basic attacks but there is not any ability faster as basic attacks to get the 500% after 5 hits

There should be two attack skill for each weapon set I or II. You just need to put appropriate skill into the hotkey you want to use because each weapon set use different skill. I don't think there's workaround for this unless i missed them.

thats my point why are there 2 attacks skills? let me use 1 for both weapons and call it basic attack? i need everyplace i got for my skills thats the only reason why i think it would be better

Because its linked to weapon set stats distribution in passive skill as well as support gem that you put them in. They don't share and its kinda complicated to understand this mechanic to say the least.

they can still share and be able on weapon switch why does it need to be 2 skills instead of 1 you cant even use the same gems on basic attacks so it actually does make no sense 4 me

No they don't. You have to click on either weapon type I or II in passive tab order to make use of weapon stats. Hence two different skill with two different support gem socket racks.
You can just hotkey LMB as weapon I attack and RMB as weapon II attack and it'll swap the weapon itself.
EDIT: As it turn out you have to allocate the weapon set points and somehow they can share between two but as i stated above these mechanics is complicated for me to fully comprehend it so maybe someone else could explain this instead.

This, still. I love being able to customize the minutia of two different types of basic attack but when I switch weapon set, let me automatically switch which basic attack I use.

No, the system offers a lot more versatility the way it is, especially if you use 2 different types of weapons.

The main issue is people trying to use 8 attack skills in their builds. It's an hackéslash, some of you are using way to much skills.

I think most of the complaints come from warriors, as that's the only class where you really want to swap between two very similar weapons (1-handed vs 2-handed maces). For warriors, shields are great for mobs but many bosses make them almost useless (not enough blockable attacks--so might as well go 2-hander). For the act-1 boss, the shield is great at first when he uses a sword, but almost useless on his second phase.
(I've also wanted something very similar weapon using weapon-sets to switch between a lightning-spec and ice-spec on a non-warrior character)
Basically, if I want basic attack-1 and basic-attack 2 to share skill gems, then I don't care about versatility, I care about the speed & convenience of being able to swap weapon-sets at will.
However, since each support-gem can only be used once, such a swap is cumbersome (swap weapons, open skills, manually move 2-5 gems). The extra versatility is not wanted, and results in a cumbersome swap.
Ideally, I would like to be able to choose which setup or allow duplicate gems so long as they affect basic skills for different weapon sets.

because the basic attack, causes the weapon swap..
it you are using weapon 1, and need to swap to weapon 2, but basic attack uses your current weapon.. it wont swap.

pretty straight forward reason.

This is a skill based game. There is no basic attack. They need to change the names, it confuses people.

The game is actually working like guild wars 2. There is no standard attack, everything is skill, it's just that your equipped weapon also have an embedded skill that has no cost.

Stop trying to force a gameplay that isn't there, work with the game how it is designed.

an 'embedded skill with no cost' .. normal people would call a basic attack.
