Just as suggested the vendors will carry what you need. I play a witch so I see mainly every class but witch stuffs laying about. Though it has allowed me to gear my friends before myself.
E: And yeah it sucks to be constantly getting quarterstaffs, bows, etc. and not see a single usable wand/staff for ages.
There are some things that you def want though and you can focus on more cause you are a spellcaster.
More eshield is almost always good, more mana can be if you have any mana problems. Life is SUPER huge for the witches (both ascendencies) and still good on the sorcs.
Cast speed is VERY common/easy to get on almost all your equipment slots. Rings/Ammys/gloves/weapon/shield etc. You can get ALOT of it (makes wasting your time getting on the tree pretty pointless later on. Also means you don't mind those 30% damage boost but 5% slower cast speed nodes as much.
Of course you want +elemental damage, + resists, + skills and for witches +minion levels as well, so there is plenty of stuff to look for on your equipment, and a good piece of equipment (like a good staff) can make a huge difference at any level.
So you still have good loot to look for and create/get for spellcasters. Also some of the uniques are really good for them. All staff/wand/sceptre spells are free, no mana cost, so you can pump them up as much as you want. Sadly you will want to upgrade constantly as you level to the highest level base spell (so like every buncha levels on uniques).
Good news is that if you have a premium stash you can just sell your old unique and buy the next higher level unique for about the same price....so it's not really a big problem/loss.
