Penetration
Is it good? IF so, does it help early game or do I wait until later when (I assume) enemies have higher resistances?

Wait until later.

Yeah, i just grab cuz i assume I'll need it eventually lol. Doesn't make an immediate difference but I started grabbing some in like act2, so yeah, probably too early to matter much.

Yes. Given the choice I will always go for penetration.

Penetration is only good if you don't have sources of exposure or lowering elemental resistances like curses.

Unfortunately in this game you cannot penetrate into negative resistences. So if you already can get enemies below 0 penetration is worthless.

Even right off your sorc or witch has penetration nodes right near it, and they add stats, so yes, it's totally worth it, especially if you focus on one elemental type primarily.

Arc for instance early on with Orb of Storms clears everything, but some enemies are resistant to lightning damage. Penetration reduces that resistance, making you do , if not full damage, significantly more against them.

I wouldn't go all out all over the place to add it, but if it's right there, snag it. It helps even initially and helps more and more the more you spec in 1 elemental type.

I get 70% from curse/exposure. If an enemy has 90% resist, then they now have 20%. 30% pen would lower it to 0% and increase my damage from 80% to 100% (25% increase). If an enemy has 80% resist, then curse/expo reduce to 10%, then pen reduces to 0%, with my damage going from 90% to 100% (11% increase). Most enemies don't seem to even have 70% resists, even bosses. So pen is only really valuable to me if I want to using it for mapping (in place of cursing) and would still cost a damage support to do so. Your situation may be different. Do mathz, or just try using it and compare to not using it.

I'm just waiting on "immune to fire" enemies to show up in cruel so my fire based witch will hit a brick wall.

penetration is ALWAYS good, having element, phys, ailment types of penetration means more dmg overall, each boss has their own resistances and you are literally doing more dmg

Try penetrating your friends if your enemies are playing hard to get.
