Also dodge is same speed as running so just run out of AOEs.
Its a short burst of mobility. It gives the player more versatility but tries to avoid allowing players to become too dependent on it.

So you might dodge the initial hit but still get hit by the slam AOE or the debris projectiles
But when you dodge, you first get a burst of speed, and afterwards you are slowed down for a bit to compensate.
Because of that, if you're close to the edge of an AOE but not quite close enough to sidestep it, dodge roll can make the difference.
