question about alchemist orb

Is the functionality of this item, a combination of
1 Exlated orb 1 Regal orb 1 augumentation 1 transmutation
right ?

you turn white into a rare with 4 affixes.

Isnt it better to just use step by step each affix unlock, so that if you start getting low Tier stats, you just stop the production of the item, saving Exalt and Regal ?

Or does the Alchemist give better chances at high tier affixes?

It doesn't have a higher chance at better stats you just more. The advantage is the possibility of more stats not better ones.

oh so the tier is the same, but the numbers you get, have a higher chance to be close to maximum, when using Alchemist ?

I save those for when I find a quality normal piece of gear I can use in my build. It's a crap shoot but I used it on a quality club I found and it has been equipped since the middle of act 1 and into the early maps of act 2. I added another modifier to it, slapped in a socket and it's been good. It's all predicated on the big four stat roll whether it turns out to be good or not though.

it's the gamble of using a single more rare orb to get 4 affixes right away rather than going step by step using more currency: you might get decent affixes in a single roll or it might not be useful, the other method allows you to more safely roll better gear BUT means more spending overall if you don't land good mods

as in, to turn T1 into T6? aside from chaos orb

I'm almost done with act 3 and I haven't seen anything to increase mod tiers so I can't really say

I can't say since I'm only on the first few maps of act two and I haven't come across any new shard types yet.

Never heard of such a thing. Even in PoE1 it was really hard to influence the tier of modifiers and it was usually really expensive or restrictive. Just expect the modifier tiers you get to be permanent.

An Alc will almost never give the same quality of results as you would get from Trans - Aug - Regal and then you'd still have to spend the Exa anyway

in the end it's all a gamble and it's up to you to determine which way is worth the gamble

Alch's are super gambling. Good to toss on a decent base and pray. Currently crafting consists of finding a decent base, Slamming a Transmute/Essence, hoping for the affix you want, cry, sell it. Repeat, get the affix, slam an Augmentation, get a crap affix, sell it. Do it again and again, finally get 2 affixes, slam a Regal, and finally if you can get 3 good affixes, pray that you get good Affixes on the Exalt Slams
