All ARPGs are built around power fantasy builds that break the game. Your argument is invalid. Learning the game effectively means making the game as easy as possible via broken combos / gear / etc.

This is why PoE1 is known as the copy paste meta build simulator because most people don't bother putting in the effort to make their own builds and just want to clean out the game with the most cheese build they can find.

Not just in gaming, but most things in general, honestly. There's a reason actual gated communities exist. And people respond to gatekeeping with "You just want to exclude people." to which the obvious response is "YES!" Nobody wants the things they enjoy to be ruined by people coming in, and forcing changes that the core community didn't want.

To use a comparison to what's been happening in gaming, let's take another hobby. Let's take sports as an example. Specifically, baseball. Now there's a group of people who join in, and watch baseball, but they don't want to sit through all 9 innings. They "have a life", after all. So they push, and push, and push, and now baseball is only 3 innings. But also, they don't want it to be so competitive. Competition is for "tryhards" after all. So now nobody keeps score. And now fans of baseball are upset that the thing they loved has been completely ruined by tourists who didn't understand what made baseball so loved in the first place, and get told that they're just "elitists", and "gatekeepers" who should appreciate that baseball is for everyone now.

That's what it's like to be a gamer. Everything has to be watered down to cater to everyone, or you're just a terrible person who wants to be an "elitist". So games like PoE that refuse to bend the knee are a breath of fresh air.

POE exists because diablo catered to the every-gamer. POE1 was brutally hard, moreso than POE2, when it was a newer game. Dont even add in desync surprises to the equation.

POE is always overtuned when its newer. Keep in mind how bad your POE1 first run with no guide went, thats what were doing now.

It's not that hard, but it is a great arena for young men to reveal themselves unable to ask for help or help others. FOr me, I'm just the same greedy bastard I always was, and am wearing multiple act 1 uniques I stole from other players by leaving short allocation and taking their loot before rezzing them

I agree with everything you said up until #5. That is a myth. They have never and will never touch anyone's account or even disturb them with an email if they're a whale. It's always been like that. They just have a very well oiled propaganda machine in place with some established streamers to make people think this is the case. As long as the person is keeping to themselves with ill gotten gains, they will do nothing. But this does not apply to the regular guy with a few skins and stash tabs.
