Me, I was always a casual in PoE 1 and I will be in PoE 2 as well, so all I can report on is having enjoyed myself up to this point - though I recognized quickly that melee would be less fun to play until they get it balanced.
and they will fix almost all of them when fixing is necessary
The lack of build diversity will change with time. As for boring and tedious ... I like the slower pace that most of the game has, it makes you take your time and not just explode entire screenloads of mobs at a time.
That said, I think the bosses in the campaign are too spongy - once I've seen their entire skill routine a few times the fight should be over and any more than that is just wasted time.
I'm guessing they just wanted a graphics update and a story patch for PoE1 and instead got a completely new game. It'll probably pass in time.
first you guys claimed
"THIS IS THE SECOND COMING OF GAMING JESUS CHRIST, PoE2 WILL BE THE BEST GAME EVER"
then the game flops hard and has a million things wrong about it
"dont worry its only early access, they will fix everything eventually"
actually most of the player base (and income) of poe1 are casuals and wanted a poe sequel not a poe darksouls. The majority of the hate is directed at the slow and tedious game play compared to the zooming looter game poe1 was (which most casuals like). The game feels fine for the first few campainn runs but its going to start to feel really bad when you have to spend the first 30 - 40 hours of every league to even get to maps.
nothing flopped, for me it already is the best ARPG ever created, it just needs refinement
almost all of the things you listed are minor complains to me which are easily fixed
Thats like the people spelling doom because there was no loot dropping before, and then 1 day later it was already heavily enhanced
If it flopped for you, then thats fine, i predict there will be hundreds of thousands of players coming back for leagues, especially once 1.0 hits, and then it will keep thriving for the years to come
but we will see what happens
my hand actually cramps and hurts from hammering frost wall, frost bomb, frostbite, cold snap and frost bolt ALL ON COOLDOWN like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maniac
this game is borderline unplayable without macros if u wanna grind 100's of hours
I think this is part of the casual thing, too, but I paid $30 for this game and will get at least 30 hours of entertainment out of it - to me that is money well spent.
(Keep in mind, when I say 'casual' I mean that I won't be spending hundreds or thousands of hours in the game, I've been an active gamer for 40 years)
nonsense.
MMORPGs like WoW and FF14 play like that too and people still play them all day
you complain about literally everything at this point, no matter how nonsensical, you even complain about clicking buttons in a video game
Ive played poe so damn much i got a free key from ggg, im not looking forward to repeating this campain 1000 times when i want new build. i got my act1-10 speed down to 5 hours for a reason lol
WoW FFx14 have a thing, it is called GCD or GlobalCoolDown
in FFX14 GCD is 2,5 seconds...that is 1 keypress every 2,5 seconds.
not hammer-ur-keyboard-like-a-monkey poe style
WoW Fx14 also have ROTATIONS
both which are entirely lacking in PoE 2
in PoE 2 i just hammer all my 8 keybinds all the time
in WoW i have to actually play Piano
for my frost sorc in PoE2 i could macro all abilities into a single keybind and be fine
(which i might actually do)
I think you have those things completely upside down. It's the whales that put thousands of dollars into microtransactions that make the money for GGG. Just like with other free-to-play MTX heavy platforms, it's always the whales they're looking for. A few casual stash tabs are not the thing that makes GGG profit. And it's those very same "hardcore" gamers who want to go fast to optimize their currency per hour ratios and grind for days without sleep. Casuals just wanna play through the campaign, shoot baddies and get nice looking loot.
i dont have much clue about frost sorc, i played one myself up to level 20, then thought its bs and didnt play it anymore. if i played sorc again then i would probably play a fire one instead
Merc is my main right now and it is pretty chill and actually has combos/rotations, my grenades also have a cooldowns
