Fast Forward - Support Skill Gem

I'm confused as to what this gem's exact effects are. Description says: supported skills have 30% less skill effect duration. So why would this be used if it decreases a skill's duration? Wouldn't decreasing the duration decrease the attached skill's effect? thank you

It helps with skills that are on a timer (example: Frost Bomb, Living Bomb, etc.), to trigger them quicker.

I used it on the frost spell that has a delay before exploding and damaging enemies around it, can't recall the name right now. Yes it had a shorter initial phase so it ended up doing less damage but I got to the utility part of the spell quicker.

it is usefull for abilities with delayed value. think a bomb skill that explodes in 10s, with this gem it instead explodes in 7s.

This support gem is supposedly compatible with bonestorm. I just don't know if it's reducing the amount of time the splinters remain in the enemy, or if it's shortening the time it takes to amass the full amount of splinters overhead before casting. Can anyone say for sure?

Thanks for that explanation. I wondered what this meant also. And I wanted something like that for grenades
