support gems

help me understand something. There is tons of questionable support gems and some even dont exist yet.
for example there is "controlled destruction" (it`s creating from Arc) wich gives 30% dmg on hit for spell but spell cannot crit.
crit dmg by default +100%
i have spell arc wich deal 176 dmg on hit + 30% = 228 dmg
crit dmg 176 dmg + 100% = 352 dmg
why in the hell i should use this support gem

Because the default crit chance is what, 9-10%? You can do the math, but on first glace I'd say the gem should provide roughly 15% dps increase. But yes, once you raise crit chance and/or crit damage multiplier, the gem will become increasingly less useful.

Its for a non crit build, also some skills you may choose to use you dont care about dmg out put so much its just to prock ailments, its good for those aswell.
