POE2 ascendency trials
I am 7 levels overleveled and I am getting destroyed trying to do trails. I am sure it's a skill issue. I decided to do POE2 without youtube/twitch or following a build. My build has been great for leveling and clearing the campaign, like I said I'm 7 levels over the trail req. Maybe it's because I'm melee? The trials feel impossible for me currently and I feel stupid for having wasted so much time trying them. I will continue to over level and keep trying them.

I never had this problem in POE1 but I'm trying to stay cool and not rage at it, I'll keep trying. Since I'm not watching twitch/youtube is anyone else having this problem? Is it because I'm melee or just because I'm bad? Would love some feedback even if it's a "skill issue".

The issue is clearly that if you're melee, you only have your honor bar as "HP" for the whole trials, including the boss. Which means you have to kill everything and then the boss without losing too many HP. And if it's a boss you don't know, basically you're doomed because they're normal bosses with AoEs that can deal crapton of damages.
An example: my first try on these things, I had 519 max honor on my warrior. I reached the boss with 470, which isn't bad I guess. I didn't know this boss, never tried it yet. Boss goes to mid-life, then AoE the whole room, 350 honor lost, game over.

So the only solution I see is farming the relics that give like +20% honor and stack them, because otherwise it's downright stupid for melee. Litterally 1 hour lost per run. In the current state, this will outright make a lot of players quit, because it's a complete lack of respect for players' time.

Ironically I beat the Honor trial first try to choose my ascendancy and use my first two skill points. It is the chaos trial specifically I am stuck on, the one time I got to round 3 of 4 I had to close because one of the elites had regen and he was a heavy armored mob so I literally could not kill him, not I cannot even get back to round 3, keep losing on round 2. Ya I feel hopelessly stuck though and not sure how much longer I will force myself to retry.

Choose the negative effects very carefully. Don't pay attention to anything, just get as low a number of debuffs as possible.

Ya I have, I've even reset multiple times round 1 to get optimal downsides for my build. I guess I need to have some better RNG in later rounds.

It has nothing to do with negative effects. You still have to kill the end boss with at best 1 HP bar. If you haven't tried that boss several times yet, you can't beat it, first super-AoE will have you if you're a warrior. Sure, you can use the flask to regen your HP, but that won't regen your honor, so you're screwed unless you already know the patterns.

Honor is terrible, but manageable on the 1st playthrough
But on the cruel difficulty it's rage-inducingly unplayable for melee

nah fam, Just freeze then build up stun and heavy stun then drop your bell on him and freeze again.

works everytime. . .except the 2 times it didnt.

The honor mechanic sucks, the bar is to small and even if you arrive at the boss at full honor its still very easy to fail because of that

Trial of Chaos is way too hard. I've enjoyed the difficulty. But Trial of Chaos completely sucks. I'm far over leveled and I have a "what I thought" was a great ice sorceress build. I'm not stuck.

Some modifiers complete ruins completion, phys aoe explosion as example. The damn boss bird is annoying as hell, two hits and it flyes away, and i need to chase when there are billions of traps, 30 mins to just finish that stupid boss. Completed as warrior, first ascendancy was hard too, ranged skill helped alot.

although i had no problem with my sorc beating this ... the mechanic that HP loss reduces your honor is absolutely f... terrible game design especially for new players, non op characters and melee in particular. Also you cant run any build that might depend on losing HP to trigger stuff.
