How does it stack up to other ARPGs so far?

I attempted to play POE 1 a few times but just could not get into it. The skill web was massive and confusing. I don't like ARPGs where I feel that I HAVE to look up builds to do any endgame due to skill trees and lack of respecs. I am not a huge fan of ARPGs or MMOs that make it so classes don't really matter because everyone can just spec into everything anyways. I prefer class specific skills and abilities. Do classes matter more in this game or is it like the first one with starting class just puts you on a specific spot in the web?

Does this game have a respec option in it and if so, is it ridiculously expensive to respec like in D4, or is it easier to respec like in Last Epoch, or is it completely free to respec? I know it's slower paced and more difficult than POE 1, which sounds more appealing to me. Also, how does it compare to something like Last Epoch? Personally, I feel like Last Epoch is the best ARPG to come out since D2 and the old Champions games. Regardless, I will at least check POE 2 out when it becomes F2P, but I am debating getting the early access because ARPGs are one of my favorite game genres.

Very different to LE, which is amazing for me, but i don't think it would be for you. There is respec, but it takes a little to unlock, and it is not cheap. Depends on your total level. The more level, the more money it takes. The passive points map is still over the top, also.

From what you wrote, i suggest waiting for F2P.

I'm in act 2 and I haven't look up a single guide or build. I tried PoE 1 but could get into either. I think the skill tree is very straight forward and easy to get once you look at it, though it is still quite large. I've seen a lot of talk that melee classes are very tough, but I think that is because the combat is a lot harder. I'm using a sorc right now and it's not bad. It seems a lot more souls-like, ie, dodge attacks, wait for opening to attack. I am really enjoying the challenge, but I also really like the souls genre. I am having a lot of fun and it's not too complicated to figure out, having not played the first one. There also is an option to respect the skill tree using gold, though you won't have much gold for a bit.

If you did not like POE because of how complex it was then you prob wont like this either.. Best wait for when the game fully launches and is f2p.

Yes there are re-spec options but its expensive as well. Never enjoyed Last Epoch myself so cant really compare.

Yes, it is going to be free once they release version 1.0, which they said will be about 6 months. Of course the date could vary, but once it is out of early access, it will be free to download and play like the first one.

Its PoE1 but slower, less loot and positional based combat (because mobs have telegraphed attacks hit hard and in the cases of boss basically nuke you).

I wouldnt hold my breath for the free release. Its lots of work to be done so i figure a year is more realistic.
That said, i am enjoying myself, tho a little masochistic

🤡 It's not like dark souls. You are the troll here

But yeah it's in a rough state, only buy in if you are a fan of the genre
