That being said, POE2 has better graphics (art direction) and combat, but the loot and skill system is lacking, still very early in the EA cycle so I'm sure there will be plenty of updates.
I've played 4 of the classes so far on POE2 and probably going to wait a bit until I play more. Feels like it will be much better in a couple months/out of EA.
But the boss fight is souls like, it is long. It is balanced towards each fight is consists of multiple phases. On average build it will take about 5-10 minutes and many of those movesets are lethal. Lethal with meaning it going to kill you in 1 hit or you barely survived. Similar like dark souls you have limited flask here. Similar like dark souls you have checkpoint either before boss and you cant TP to town halfway through your fight. Similar like dark souls you going to die a lot, remember every single move that he make until you can perfect roll every single attack that he has like "let me solo her".
Similar to poe 1 however, you can bypass all this by copying broken build out there and boom suddenly you kill it in 1 minute. So do whichever you like, for me I dont mind souls like difficulty but if power fantasy is your thing, just google those broken build that streamer found out.
Bosses go down under 10 seconds, first 5 seconds is me buffing myself. I skip all mechanics.
"On the average build 5-10minutes" more like on a disaster build 10 minutes."
I think people took "experiment and play how you want" and turned it into "I'll just use the skill that looks the prettiest and ignore synergies". It's an RPG, there's still a meta. You can take 10 minutes on a boss, shuffle your passives and gems around and then melt it in seconds.
Epoch was way easier, and a lot more Filler quests to take up your time.
This game, all your time is literally grinding your character to get better loot and get further in the story and the maps at end game.
I mean, let me say first off that I wouldn't enjoy playing like that, but when the thing says 'play how you want', you should be able to play how you want.
If you can't, they should amend that to 'play how you want so long as it's a way we explicitly allow and no other way'. Which wouldn't be a good PR move, but would at least not be a lie.
I dissagree with your thought process a bit.
You can most assuredly play how you want. Just don't come complain when How you want doesnt work out for yourself. If you want to use 1 button smash to play.... then good luck!
But dont go comparing this game to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ souls game which only difficulty is in delayed attacks, especially when you selfimposed additional difficulty on you for playing nonsense gems that dont work together.
