Ascendancy point refund?

I haven't allocated my first two points yet but wanted to make sure if these were refundable if it doesn't work how im expecting it to work if they aren't then it changes to going to what im sure would work

In PoE1 ascendancy points were refundable if you had eight respec points available so it's probably something along those lines

You can refund them once you get the character "The hooded one" or whatever his name is.

It costs gold tho and it scales based on level. So make sure you plan ahead unless you wanna start spending all your gold on resets.

Edit : Oh ascendancy points, sorry i misread that. I haven't got one of those yet since my character is only like level 28. In that case, no idea sorry.

As far as i know, they are not refundable right now

alright someone in global chat told me so i tested its also just gold but its about 3 or 4k gold dependent on level so either grind gold or plan ahead

Oh really? They must have added it after the fact since it was a point of contention that you could not refund ascendancies as Poe2 was released into EA. But glad to hear that you can!

I was also told that even though you can refund points, you can not switch ascendancy

Yes they are refundable but they are more expensive than normal points. I know this as i went blood mage and the first ascendancy broke my build so i had to spec out till i was able to cope with it. In PoE 1 you could spec out of all of them and run lab to change ur ascendancy, that cant be done at this stage of the game.

You can respect the allocated points in your ascendancy. You cant switch to a different ascendancy.

You can refund them just fine. They are more expensive to refund than regular passives though. And by alot. But since you only have a few points it's no big deal. The only thing you cant do is to switch Ascendancies to another one.

The bone of contention was that you couldn't switch ascendancies, like from Pathfinder to Deadeye. It's something I'm fairly certain GGG will roll back, because there's been a lot of complaining about that.

I stand corrected, it was problably this i was thinking about and my old brain just got the things mixed up. Hopefully they'll let us switch ascendencies at some point.

Indeed, i realised this when reading through the comments, just my old brain that mixed things up! But yes, hopefully they will let us switch ascendencies at some point.

They make one of the most in depth and complicated skill trees ever made - then make it so you cant change your ascendancy??! Great game all in all - but i think this is a huge fail and they will loose many players due to this mechanic.
