Path of Exile 2

I want give one big tip that helped me progress in game (for new players)
TLDR: Focus on upgrade your weapon. I think all classes are dependent on it, at least ranger, warrior, merc, monk.

Your ONLY upgrade focus should be about focusing getting better weapon. Rest items just HP/res/armor etc.. My main problem was waiting good drop from mobs/bosses. This was my worst mistake. Here are 4 alternative options how you can do it:

1. Check regular vendor if there are yellow weapons. (I bought very good for 20k gold)
2. Check gamble vendor if there are blue/yellow (Spent probably 100k+)
3. Use all currency orbs. Eather upgrade white weapon or good blue with good stats to rare. Don't save exhalted orbs if you find decent one.
4. Option to reroll if you find sick weapon for another class.

After you have good weapon put two sockets to it + 20% quality with weightstone.

Damage in this game is everything. With enough HP/dodge rolls you can survive for quite long at bosses. But with good damage you can melt bosses and maps. I felt like stuck long time 15-30. Now running maps 60+

Only Martial weapons follow this rule-set. Non-Martial weapon users have a much harder time. It's pretty hard to get a really GOOD non-martial stat allocation.

ie. for minions build if you use the Sceptre, you can't get +spell damage. Or at least I have yet to see it. You can get +Spirit, +aura size, +minion hp, +allie hp regen, +allie damage, etc.

All your personal damage modifiers have to come directly from skill synergies if using Sceptre from my current experience.

I mean you can run a wand and a sceptre. That's what I do.

I played only ranger/merc. It was super painful if don't have weapon with good damage modifications. I was expecting to find some good rare from world like in POE 1. But this is where if F'd up. Nothing drops in world/bosses/mobs.

Everything I got from currency/vendor. I managed to turn it around with this current "item meta" :D

I run a sceptre with level 8 skeletons, if I switch to wand they dissapear and you lose all Auras of sceptre if you switch to wand.

You can dual wield them. Wand in left slot, sceptre in right slot.

oh wait, wut? I tried fitting wand to offhand, with sceptre in main, and the game didnt let me. I thought the game was telling me sceptre was a two hander...

oh boy, this changes things for me.

I think my next feedback to GGG is going to be making the Main/Offhand info easier to see, cus I do NOT see that at all on Sceptre.

EDIT: you HAVE to equip the wand first and then the Sceptre, this is what led me astray. You CANNOT place an offhanded [dual wielding] item without having a mainhand equiped first.

Oh for real? That is odd. I've always used a wand to I just accidentally had it go that way, but yeah that's a little weird. It should tell you in the tooltip or somehow.

If you hover moues over the "Wand" and "Sceptre" tooltips, the game just says One-Handed dual wield NOT possible.

I think it's an over-site that you can't equip scepter in main with wand in offhand., I feel that if both are "One-handed" - "dual Wield not possible" it should not matter which is in which hand.. /shrug

I've learnt a few tricks since making my first few characters. In the first 5 or 6 levels of a new character, money is very tight and drops are terrible. I started using lvl 1 Uncut Skill Gems, to learn skills that are outside those available to my character. They're a random drop from trash mobs - not all that common, but you can get them.

My lvl 3 Merc used a Gem to learn lvl 1 Frost Bomb. When Frost Bomb explodes after a couple of seconds, it does (at spell lvl 1) 21 to 32 damage in a 1.7m radius. Cooldown is about 3 seconds. I was romping through Clearfell and The Burrow with that spell, plus my rather crap Crossbow, killing mobs and the mini-bosses so easily I didn't even need to pop a potion.

I kept any Uncut Skill Gems in the Stash after that, rigging up new characters with fun spells. My Ranger got Wall of Fire because the arrows that pass through it get additional fire damage. So, if a decent weapon is hard to get, mix it up with an Uncut Spell Gem and get firepower that doesn't cost anything and also kills mobs faster, meaning gold and drops are easier to get. 🙂
