Basic Attack does more dmg than skills.

My basic attack as a ranger does way more dmg than my skill and im at lvl 25.
I do have Support Gems in skills and leveled up the skills but it seems my basic attack is always strongest by making at least 3x dmg

edit: with skills i mean lightning rod and strike combo.

That's because in those type of games, basic/auto attacks are filler attacks.

I'm in act 3 with my ranger and I'm still using auto attack for single targets and a couple of "spells" for groups. It's just way more damaging than any spell I've tried so far. Not that it's destroying things, everything still takes a while to die.

Then you don't understand the skill system. You're supposed to combo abilities to get the most out of them. When combo'd right, they will do WAY more damage then basic attack.

Yes, but to me it feels like the combo's are not working well. Something feels of with warrior skills. I noticed the same thing when I played warrior.

Problem with the combination skills is that many bosses are very mobile so while you're setting up your combo the boss is already gone. Making it so that just spamming auto attack is more effective.

What build do you even have then? With Lightning Stormcaller certainly does more damage than basic attack and Poison is Poison. Only Cold would have a reason to use basic attack, but i somehow doubt you are going full Cold.

I am melting the entire game with totem, into rolling slam, into boneshatter on stunned enemies, It feels amazing to hit one stunned guy with Boneshater and everything around him just explodes.

I have all points in projectile damage and in better bonus from quiver. Maybe like 4 points into defensive stats. I'm full projectile damage.

i do combo my abilities but the basic atk does more dmg than the combo hence the 90% basic attack. i do want to play my combos but if it does ♥♥♥♥ why bother

Your basic attack is for dealing with single enemies. Skills are for dots, cc, aoe, status effects. I'm playing fire sorc in hardcore and so far I'll fire bolt if dealing with single enemy. Crowd shows up, I'll set up fire wall and fusillade then fire bolt while fusillade and fire wall are up.

This game is about utilising all your skills rather than just spamming one forever.

That's fair enough but the issue is when a boss takes 5 minutes to kill and you have nothing more effective than your basic attack for single target then the 5 minute fight is just basic attack, dodge, basic attack, basic attack, dodge, dodge, dodge, basic attack.

That gets old pretty fast. I'm level 39 right now and I just don't have any desire to hit play now. At all.
