Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

My feedback after finishing act 1 cruel
Really enjoying the game so far, and so are the people in my friends group, but some stuff does feel a bit "off".

I do think the loot scarcity is a tad bit much. My friend and I had a running joke about rare chests not dropping anything of value. I think we were 15 rare chests deep before one even dropped a rare item or currency higher than a wisdom scroll.

And yes, vendors now sell rares items occasionally. Maybe if you're lucky even a rare that's good for you. Checking through the vendors every level up isn't exactly scintillating gameplay, though. I'd rather currency like regals, alchs, and exalts either be a bit less scarce or at least have a few guaranteed drops of them from killing some bosses for the first time. Let people who are getting shafted by the RNG have a few more opportunities to make their own gear.

And, for the love of god, let jewelry drop more often. It's painful trying to get amulets to drop.

This seems to be a pain point even for seasoned players that are reaching maps. The penalties to your resists just compounds the issue. It seems to become a bit of a nightmare trying to fix your resists late game when you're lacking ways to craft resists on to gear, very little (none?) on the passive tree anymore, and resist rings (or any jewelry) doesn't drop often. The limited amount you get from socketing doesn't make up for the lack of crafted resists.

I don't advocate for massive increases in loot, but this is borderline ruthless mode from PoE1. It's a bit much, is all I'm saying.

Yeah some better loot tables for bosses and yellow chests would honestly make a big difference. I think a lot of complaints would go away.

Yea, chests in particular have been awful so far.

Even those large loot chests that appear on the map have been super underwhelming. Going back through an area to find a loot chest that's important enough to be marked on the map only to receive a couple blues or a single magic ring is.... Yea. Doesn't feel great.

Even if you don't want to increase loot drops at a base level, at least make these one time quests somewhat rewarding.

Loot drops are soo ♥♥♥♥, 100% need tweaking. saw a great rare ring in shop. went to farm loot to afford it. levelled up went back to trader, good bye ring :(

When the best chances of loot comes from vendors, something is truly broken.

when i play with my Bro and we both have item find gear on we get more orange drops. so it must stack when pairing up in a group. Then the loot is shared anyway so stupid.

Yea, playing in a group seems to compound the issue. I feel like I get just as much loot drops when playing solo as I do when I'm playing with 1-2 more people. Really makes that loot scarcity hit even harder when you're all trying to split the rare drops and can't salvage much to make regals.

They need to put some normal basic jewelry in store too. infinite amount instead of praying your luck to RNG just to be able to buy a normal ring.

I like the restricted loot and the need to craft more with orbs than what POE1 was where orbs were more or less currency to trade with than needed for gear progression.

Keep in mind the campaign of POE1 didnt have good gear for a long time, it was endgame modded maps where it was more likely to rain good gear, i expect the same here.

I like that orbs have real value and im using them as i get them vs sending stacks and stacks back to standard league every season.

Right now every orb i get is valuable, every yellow is a big deal, i look at my blues. Im not unhappy with this setup. I was never a fan of ignoring piles and piles of yellow gear, filtered via loot filter, and then blocking everything else.

That would help a lot with fixing your resists after you get hit with the penalties. We've lost so many of the more deterministic ways to get more resists. Passives, better essences, alteration spam, crafting were all good ways to patch up the holes in your resistances in PoE1 that are just gone here.

I have seen the occasional pieces of jewelry at the vendors, but it's scarce.

Act 1 boss dropped only blue for me. Which would be fine, IF anybody else would have dropped currency i can work with.

I'm doing SSF solo and cant complain. I think i am about lvl 13 and i have a few Yellows and a few Blues and have gotten a couple Orange as well. (not for my class off course :steammocking:)

But i like it. Its not fun getting all the good loot straight away. I actually think its a good balance so far.

Bosses and chests need better loot, agreed. I have only found Uniques, Rares and Exalted Orbs from field enemies.

I do enjoy the scarcity compared to PoE1. I just feel like maybe we've swung a bit too far to the opposite side of the spectrum. I'm not saying going back to the amount of rares and currency drops in PoE1 is the answer.

Just increasing certain one time loot opportunities by a bit would alleviate a lot of the problems. Rather than having more loot drop overall, just make your first time killing certain bosses (especially act bosses) reward more.

Make going through the trouble of finding the large loot caches that show up on the overworld map more meaningful. This would give smaller injections of power that you have to actively seek out while still retaining the good feeling of a rare or currency drop.

I'm a long time D2 player, so I'm not scared of grinding for upgrades. I feel like first time boss kills in D2 were more rewarding, though. Even the Andariel bug that made repeated kills of her always drop first timer loot didn't feel broken or anything.

Just defeated the last boss of Act 3.

So far so good

Act 1: 5 Uniques "WTF, Good feeling, I like it, PLEASE MORE IN THIS DIRECTION" my thoughts
Act 2: 1 Unique
Act 3: 0 Unique =))

Last Boss: BS Items =) (Diablo 2 Baal drops-bolts-wibes)

Currency is also rather low, if you want us to experiment...
