Path of Exile 2

Returned by a filthy casual - this is why.
I bought the early access because all I've heard is how incredible this game is BUT It didn't feel great to me starting out. Here are some of the reasons why i think other casual players may not enjoy this that much. DISCLAIMER - i really liked PoE and played for about 50 hours before i started fading out - i would return every once and awhile for short periods of time. I totally think that there will be many out there that will love this game especially if your into dark souls games. THIS IS NOT A "THIS GAME IS BAD" post. I doesn't feel like an ARPG which we usually like..

The reason im putting this here is because i think that casuals like myself would really enjoy this if there were a easier difficulty setting OR save anywhere feature. A lot of us are Casual because we have a lot on our plate - 2 jobs, wife, kids and we don't get long to play our favorite games so we tend to play games that our easy to get in and out off. When life calls i move and i want to feel like i accomplished something in the limited time i had. I don't see them changing the save system so a difficulty slider would help. Nobody is asking to dumb down the game - just an option for some of us. I can here it already - Get Gud, You suck the game is to easy now and of course our favorite - filthy casual. I forgot 1 - go back to Diablo 4 haha

The issue is this is PoE 2 - it's branded as an ARPG with a previous title where you have expectations about what that is.

There's probably a few souislike players happy with the changes and mocking people who don't like it. But they wouldn't be happy if the Elden Ring devs turned around and said "Okay, we're going to give people infinite dodgeroll and make bosses way easier and we'll add elements inspired by Skyrim." They'd flip out and be total hypocrites.

Game is in testing, builds/balance are not final. I would not expect balancing passes for at least a month so GGG has time to gather data, draw some conclusions about how people are progressing, etc. They definitely have an expected amount of time that each Act of the game is aimed at taking, an expected amount of deaths/respecs on average, and will most likely be looking at that data as well as endgame statistics in similar veins.

Short version is, game may stay as hard as it is, or it may not. No way to know what decision they'll make. It's very early on in testing, try it again in a month or two if you dislike how it feels to play now, it could be significantly different by then.

Just play something else.

Exactly

I think part of this issue is the current gear system in game, beating bosses rarely rewards you with anything usable, making them feel extra frustrating and pointless.

I know its kinda beside the point, But there's a difference between the two games and that difference is that POE is an MMO (or rather close to it) whereas elden ring isn't, This also means one issue is fixable on the playerside when it comes to elden ring whereas with poe you literally have to wait for the devs to fix it.

If they were for example to make elden ring far easier, give unlimited dodgerolls easier bosses. etc. The community would simply make a mod to revamp/readjust the the bosses to their pleasing much how they already do with dark souls and there's even mods that make the current elden ring bosses harder (higher health values and more damage), Having the community balance things with mods means that people can choose the difficulty to their liking whether it be ungodly hard or a stroll in the park

If Path of exiles case, we as the community can't really do anything, We have to wait for devs to notice the problems, for them to make the "theory" adjustments, and then for them to actually implement it, This means constant buffs/nerfs/adjustments until they think its in the right place, And even then i'm sure some people will feel that the game is still too hard/easy

so the real question is

How long do you think it will take to balance things to the communities standard?

(in my opinion) the game is a bit harder than i thought, but i still enjoy the challenge, if people don't really have the time for it then thats fine, they can refund it and wait until full release and not only will it be free to play but they would have ironed out alot of the problems
