Is it true you will need to follow build guides like POE?
One thing I didn't enjoy about POE is I couldn't just wing it as I hit a wall with the game and was told I had to follow build guides and because I didn't no wonder I could not proceed. I don't want to have to play someone else's build so I stopped playing POE

Can I play this without having to follow someone else's build?

Yes, you can. Trying out new skills and respeccing points is cheap and seamless, you can fine tune your build as you go through the game. Build guides will still exist for those chasing the meta, ladders and for people who like playing but not building.

You will most likely have to learn what's needed to make a build successful or take a build from someone who already knows what's needed to make a build successful. Personally I tend to do a mix of both. I tend to fail at shoring up my defenses properly and sticking to a build guide for the first 40-50 points helps me a lot.

No. Im not following no guide at all and doing just fine.

Just finished act 1, not looked at any guide, watched any streams or You Tube videos. If you are struggling with a boss, you just got to have a think about what it is that's killing you and counter it with equipment, and you can respec skill points easily and cheaply to buff areas you may be weak in a boss fight.

Okay thank you, I may pick it up later on when I have cleared some of my current backlog then.

Yeah this is exactly how I was in POE (Twice) and then I hit a wall and there was no way I could proceed. I was doing 'just fine' too... until I wasn't.

Yes that's why I dislike that game, you can brick a character by innocently experimenting and then have to level another one to do it right and time is wasted. Because here you can't be brick (because is so easy to change build compared to POE) you can safely experiment. I doubt that will change, it's the compromise they seeked with the complexity of the franchise and the open arms to casuals.

I don’t. I just read the descriptions and act accordingly.

Interesting, sounds like they understood the lesson there from the first game.

Oh and that is exactly what I did, twice lol - two characters and pretty much both times around the 60 hour mark I hit a wall and literally could not proceed so I never played the game again and it left me feeling incredibly frustrated.

Didn't want to enter into POE2 with a false expectation that would lead to another big time wasting disappointment

If you put that amount of hours there means you really like it, this game is an improvement in all counts. If you can get it asap, I definately already made that $30 back in entertainment and only scratched the surface. C'mon, you know you want it!

Oh I will pick it up eventually, I just have such a back log I really need to get at least part way through before I buy more games. Except the Indiana Jones game... I think I want that soon lol

But yeah, you guys sold it to me for sure
