PC Freezing/Crashing

Each time I try to load into a new area my PC needs a hard restart everytime. Just wondering if others are having this issue. Only happens with POE2.

@swole Thats already what I said 10 times now. But instead using fishy tools which could include malware, use Process Lasso. The FPS wont tank if you set cpu affinity -1 or -2 with it if you have modern CPUs with >= 8 cores.

i see that when i used the teleport to town everything crashed... and i have to do a hard restart, i will try to disable one CPU, and low down the graphic settings to try if that solve some issues.

@RonMan you need to disable at least one real core not a virtual core (from SMT/HT), better disable SMT in bios (it is called SMT on AMD and HT on Intel), and then use Process Lasso and disable last or two cast cores for POE2 process set it to always with Process Lasso autostart. You dont need to reduce graphics settings which are irrelevant during loading.

I love it when people with no idea what theyre talking about talk nonsense on the internet all day long. The broken CPU scheduler was back ported to 23h2 with an optional patch. If you installed it, you also have the broken CPU scheduler in 23h2. Just stop talking if you have no clue what youre talking about like 99% of the people in that and also this thread.

And then there are also totally not related instability issues on lots of PCs which use undervolt, overclock or have other hw instabilities causing PC lockups because this game uses 100% cpu when loading like it should in modern games.

I assume you're referring to the "kb5041587" update? I never installed this -- isn't it an optional update for 23h2? I don't see it under items that can be "uninstalled" either.

So, we're back to the original issue: this 23h2/24h2/kb5041587 stuff may help a subset of users, but doesn't provide a robust fix.

i had every loadingscreen a freeze, tried all solutions but nothing worked, the only thing that worked for me was to download battle encoder shiraise and set the cpu usage from poe 2 to -10% now i have since 3 days no freezes. maybe u need to test which minus u need for ur pc, i startet with -5% and on -10% it works stabel. maybe it will help someone else. saw a video from starfield with same issues and it worked there too

same here - game crashes all the time. Nothing I can do about it. No problem with other games in the steam library. No collection of logs - don't know how the Devs can imrprove this. Sad to see

I also wanna state that i just had the EXACT same issue on POE1 just now.

For 2-3 days now I have avoided crashing by running the game in full screen windowed on vulkan. After doing log in and pushing play I do Alt+Tab out of the game. It is set to cap fps on 10 in the background. After it starts, seems stable...

Interestingly intel seems to think my manufactures driver is out of date... im currently updating it.. might be nothing but since it's cpu related... maybe idk, it would explain why fresh installed dont work. i'll keep you informed.

Edit: just to confirm this is using the intel driver site, microsoft doesn't see it and its not on razers website either. only noticed it as i opened up cyberpunk 2077 and the launcher told me about it.

Edit2: its 4 more years up to date. however i dont have high hopes as the title sequence was stuttering still.

Edit3: couldnt even get into the first area before it stalled.

Hi, POE2 had been crushing(needed hard PC reset) for me from the beginning of the EA. I've tried several things ending with using CPU BES Limiter (which actually helped, but blocking the cpu should not be the answer).
Recently started playing on Windowed Fullscreen and it looks like it really helped.
Needed some adjustment with gsync but it actually worked for me with 0 crashes on the game.
Specs: 7800x3d, 4080s.

Game runs surprisingly well for me on a 1080ti and Ryzen 7 1700

Only crashed 1 time and that was the game simply closing for whatever reason.
