What is a martial weapon ?

I've come to the conclusion its, melee weapons.

martial weapon is basically any weapon that does physical damage (as main thing, crossbow and bow included)

any non-martial weapons are basically magic damage stuff I think

If you hold I believe Alt, it "pins" the current window you're cursor'd over so that you can cursor over the underlined words, thus making a new widow to pop up with a brief description of the item.

It's a typo, it's marital weapon, you're meant to marry the weapon.

You have to put the runes in the actual socket - like, click the actual socket while holding the rune.

Just clicking the weapon won't do.

This is taken directly off of the description from the ALT tool tip for Martial Weapons on POE2 Artificer's Orb.

Martial Weapons
Martial Weapons can be used to Attack. Axes, Bows, Claws, Crossbows, Daggers, Flails, Maces, Quarterstaves, Spears and Swords are Martial Weapons.

This 100% worked for me thanks. can't just drag it over the item have to actually place it right into the socket by dragging it over the socket slot. Guess it's so you don't gem something and not mean to.

ye i also tried to just click it on the weapon in general and that threw me off cuz diablo2

all the runes are for martial weapons, can you add runes to wands, staff, scepter?

So this game has these funny dots under words (........................) If you know how to read at a 4th grade level it will tell exactly what a martial weapon is.
