Is a build guide needed?

I couldn't get into poe1 and part of the reason was because a build guide was pretty much required and I prefer to just make my own character, but can I manage without following one in this game especially with the passive tree?

build guide isn't really needed in PoE 1.. it just depends on if you want to destroy everything in your path or just make your own little build and play the game in your own pace.

its pretty much the same in PoE 2... it all depends on your "understanding" of the skills/support and how you pare them and what not

the passive tree is a little intimidating at first but once you have an idea of what skills you want your build to use there is a search feature to see the passives you might want and you can plan your own build that way.

Don't rob yourself of fun and follow guides (for now).
Trying your own things is half the fun.
You can respec rather easily.

Its not needed really, I think there are some bad classes like witch but not bad builds.

No you dont need a guide at all, i suggest never following guides it just ruins the game for me. You have a great character to build with a great skill tree, why let someone else tell you how to play...steals half the fun away.
