Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Linux
Just sharing some feedback:

I've been playing PoE2 on Linux via steam/proton and its running great and I'm having a blast. Decided to see if I could get the controller working today.

I plugged in a dualsense controller and all of the plug and play features worked. PoE2 immediately saw the controller and allowed be to set the button images to Play Station style buttons.

This game is more polished in its Early Access phase than most Triple AAA releases in 2024. At least on PC anyway.

not my experience out of the box, so far all I saw was black screen, wonder what I have to update/install now to make it running

Also playing via proton and everything has been working great despite using an older system.

The black screen bug can be fixed by going into ~/.steam/steam/steampapps/2694490/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2/poe2production_Config.ini and changing renderer_type to DirectX12

Unfortunately in my case the game is so laggy it's unplayable. Getting tons of network spikes despite my ping being stable when I test it or connect to other games.

My Steamdeck OLED runs the game at 12-16w total system power. 45fps/90hz everywhere except towns. Towns are 25-30fps. Not a single crash either.

The controls are fantastic on SD.

I switched to a controller, and yes, this game is great on a controller.
I'm running an average of 75fps on this desktop machine with everything maxed at 1440p.

30fps on the steam deck sounds like another win to me.

Could not agree more. Even with all of the troubles I have had getting the game to run well and consistently with my Garuda setup, it really slaps.

Have you changed proton version or smth else to start? I've got only black screen on start and there is no My Games directory (from ~/.steam/steam/steampapps/2694490/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2/poe2production_Config.ini ) ((

Linux user here as well.
Unfortunately I bought the game without even thinking about my PC hardware and now I have to make the best out of it until I got a new GPU. My Steam Deck (the cheapest model with 64 GB internal SSD) gets better FPS than my PC. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

System: Fedora 41
Proton Version: Glorious Eggroll, GE-Proton-9-20
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: AMD RX 560 (no, I didn't forget a Zero...)
RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 2133MHz
SSD: Samsung 980 something something m.2, 1 TB

The good thing is that there was some sort of update just an hour ago that raised my FPS from ~25 to ~45. It's playable now and I could even raise the quality of the graphics again.
Still, I need a new GPU. :mortis:
