Opinion on Difficulty
Wish to hear everyones opinion on the difficulty of the game and what class you are doing it on.
I'm playing Ranger and mobs/bosses are pretty easy to kill although some instances I can be one shotted by bosses if I'm not moving around and can be trapped in a horde of mobs to where I can't roll out of.

Played Monk to level 5 and holy hell was it misery on trying to defeat bosses, stopped at the Devourer.

I love the difficulty but could definitely get better item upgrades for a slight durability boost

Sorc, and I'm not using any guides & generally suck at character building, so it's certainly bumpy. Reached act 2 in about 8 hours. The difficulty seems just right though. For a game that is in EA and only has like 3 acts - the pacing is alright, the bosses are interesting. I like swapping skills and gambling for gear when I get stuck on boss or even on some map entrance. Good experience so far

I'm building a (primarily) 1h+shield warrior, and I realized pretty quickly I was playing on hard mode for no real reason. I take 20+ minutes to chip away at a boss, I level slowly, I'm not especially tanky for the degree to which I've committed to it. It's mostly a tedious slog with no reward, but now it's a sunk cost and I'm too stubborn to reroll. Really banking on this paying off at higher levels.

Is it really "difficulty" or is it just over-inflated hp pools? I've been taking my time with a merc, I think I died 3 times total so far, but mostly I just kite, dodge and keep on punching bolts in whatever I'm fighting until it's dead. Am in the middle of act 2 atm and making my own build as I go, just testing things out.

Much harder to dodge attacks as a melee and I find the attack sequences to be clunky but maybe thats just cuz im not used to em yet. Really easy to kill whatever at range tho.

It feels rough at first, goes up and down in places.

Then just when you think you've got it all figured out and find a nice rhythm, you start encountering god awful sponge bosses.

I just don't think the issue is difficulty. I think people are saying difficulty when what they mean is tedium. The game is far too tedious for a seasonal model.

tbh when I stop yolo-ing at the crowd and start actually thinking what I do with my skills, the game's difficulty miraculously gets easier. Something to consider for sure...

Also, why does everyone think it will remain this way? We haven't even seen the entire game yet. What if they change the pacing once the whole thing rolls in release?

I totally get where you’re coming from. Monk can be a rough ride, especially as a starter build. I went with a Mercenary for my playthrough and focused on grenades and rapid shot, which helped me clear the final boss in Act 1. It wasn’t easy, but it was doable with some persistence. From what I’ve seen on Twitch, melee builds seem to be having a really hard time, even in the hands of veterans. Some manage to make it work, but usually by finding some "broken" combo. For a smoother experience, I’d recommend trying a minion range build for your first run. It gives you more breathing room and avoids the frustration melee builds are facing early on. Good luck!

Main man is lvl 33 VVitch minion build and its pretty brutal. Its easier now that I started to drift away from trying to upgrade minions.

Hopefully they make it so you can have more than 3-4 minions at a time because my little guys absolutely suck. if I had 10 of them then it would be great, unfortunately I only have 4 at 160 Spirit

At the beginning, it is really rough.
I'm having a hard time wie merc, much easier time with the witch.
I saw many comments in the worldchat with "Nerf the game!", but I don't think, that this is the way to go. I like the roughness and the slow pace of leveling.
Perhaps they can increase the amount of money or better dropchances, but no change with the difficulty.

Now I'm going to play something relaxing after a long day in PoE2. Elden Ring or Bloodborne should do it.:VBCOOL:

I play warrior 2H and difficulty has been easy so far.
I feel it's a looter game. So difficulty will be different if you loot good stuff or not.
If you are not lucky, slow down and farm/craft.

I love the boss fight but I think mobs are to strong. I’m fine with clearing and fighting decent elites and getting to the boss but I don’t feel powerful rolling through maps. Lowered mobs health add more density to them. Buff damage a bit. When I level it just doesn’t seem powerful.

Merc, played to the woodland area, haven't died yet.
not a POE vet, no idea what i'm doing.
seems fine to me so far
