I recommend, go play other games that are entry level and then when you get some experience under your belt come back to this game.
The nice way to put it is, "skill issue"
Just like anything else, like making money on the stock markets, need experience otherwise "skill issue"
I beat Geonar today with my monk at lvl 19 after I think my 20th or so try.
There are some mechanics that are easy to avoid with enough awareness and patience... But the flurry of mobs make the whole encounter a miserable experience.
After I beat him, I just felt this sense of exhaustion. Not even a sense of victory just relief it was over.
Act 2 starts and I get a 10% resistance penalty and I'm like... Oh come on the game is already plenty challenging enough can't you ease off FFS?
The difficulty never seems to stop outpacing the sense of growth as you learn things.
I never feel like I'm ahead of the game or there's any real meaning to my leveling or skill powerups. It only ever seems to make the most marginal amount of difference.
The grinding for equipment isn't awful, it gives me time to learn the attack patterns of mobs and such. But I was often encountering packs of creatures that seemed to just be hurting me by being near me, and not even small bits of damage, big constant damage just being near them. Which is a miserable experience if you're a melee build... I'm glad I'm a monk because if I was moving any slower I'd go mad.
It's too late to refund now but if I could I would. I feel so burnt out just finishing act 1.
I've definitely found the game easier using both ice and lightning.
Lightning for my big charge attack and ice for my retreat attacks.
STOP IT. Just because we're old and have hand issues, eyesight issues is no reason to be a jerk. Get good, how about have some compassion, someday you'll be in the same boat. Hell you may be like me and have it start way early in life.
This is why games need difficulty settings. Screw artistic freedom, when I buy your software it should be accessible in the way that is best for me. Not what is best for you. Personally I would love to see some sliders and toggles. Like being able to turn off one shots. I think they are a cheap mechanic.
Would also like to see a reduction in boss health. Boss fights don't need to be multi minute affairs. That is what screws me over, the gout in my knuckles starts to hurt and my hand will cramp up. Boss fights should be 2 to 3 minutes and you should be allowed to be aggressive. To much crap needs to be manually dodged.
Our feedback is just as valid and important as yours. We paid for the game too, we should have our concerns addressed. Just because we're old and broken we shouldn't be ignored.
For anyone familiar to ARPG games, it should be a breeze but for people that never played those kind of games just look for a guide to look the way you need to build your passive tree and you will be fine.
This was closely followed by the second thought "there is absolutely ZERO chance of me repeating this absolute slog every season."
If this was CW's "vision" this whole time, I hope he stays the ♥♥♥♥ away from POE1 so I can still enjoy at least one relatively modern arpg.
But combat feels really bad. I didn't play POE 1 at all. Is this normal? Loot is almost non-existent. Respecting to try other build is expensive as hell..like. Who is this game for? Lol
