Very disappointed by GGG
Yeah, no one’s going to care, but I need to get this off my chest.

I’ve spent over 1500–2000 hours on PoE 1, yet I didn’t get a code for the game…
It seems that for GGG, people who’ve thrown hundreds of dollars on skins - including some spoiled kids - are more valuable than the fans who’ve played and supported their game for years.
Sure, I haven’t spent a ton of money on PoE 1. I’ve only bought a few stash tabs so I could actually play the game. But apparently, not spending hundreds of dollars means nothing to them. To them, time isn’t an investment. Time isn’t support. Support is only measured by how much money you’ve spent.

I’m extremely disappointed.

prob just turned 15 and his mom wont give him 30 bucks rn, so the dude blew a casket about how poor he is and that games should all be free and developers should live rent free in HIS basement, right?

First at all, I already said that I can pay it but doing it would seem that I support that behaviour.

Also, looks like you don't know how world actually works. Just because in your country 30$ are half-day work, doesn't automatically means it same for everywhere in the world. In some countries these 30$ are actually few days work. :)

I have played since beta, even before EA of PoE 1. I have only spent maybe $60 over the years on the game (well till now, but the $30 I spent is for PoE 2). I am eternally GRATEFUL to them for providing me so much fun over the years. I certainly don't expect special treatment because I have played all that time. The people who have spent $500 or more DESERVE to be appreciated for supporting the game. Heck if people like that didn't exist, there might not even be a PoE 2, and they may have not continued to build on PoE 1 as much as they did.

I supported it because it was VERY worth the money (and more). I certainly didn't "just buy stash tabs because you need them to play the game". They worked to build that game and then, continued to work on it for over a decade. Do you think they should do all that for free?

Seriously they have the most "awesome" free to play system I have ever seen. Yes, you could argue that getting additional stash tabs if you are going to play a ton makes the game alot more fun, but it's not actually really needed at all, especially if you join a guild etc.

The game is free, and tons of people have played it, for free, and not ever spent a dime, because it's free. You are not owed anything for playing the game...again for free. People who have supported the game even though....it's free......have not really gotten anything substantial in the game that people who play....for free.. don't get. You can also get exactly what they got by paying $30..........which gives you currency to buy things like stash tabs......or you can just wait...and eventually play it......for free.

How anyone can complain about this I don't understand. Never ever seen a company give away it's game so completely. PoE started before all the FTP systems went viral and made tons on cosmetics etc. It basically survived on people saying "holy cow this game is great, we are going to buy things we totally don't need to support it because they deserve it so much". That is exactly what I did. That is what many people did.

Great company. PoE 2 is a good game that they are going to again...give away for free. I am glad they made a buncha cash in the EA. I am happy to support the game and their efforts. If you don't like the game, don't play it. If you don't want to wait to try it, get the EA bundle (you can use the stash tabs you buy in PoE 1 if you don't like 2). It's $30 not 70$, for a game you will probably play WAY more hours than most other $70 games you buy. You don't even need to spend that if you just want to be patient. I imagine there are tons of people who have put thousands of hours into PoE 1 and never paid a dime.

I'm happy they could make that work. I think it's great. I think the fact that not only could they make it work but sustained it for over a decade is amazing.

PoE 1 has surpassed D2 as my favorite game of that genre (years ago). PoE 2 isn't done yet, so I am going to hold off on my opinion over all until it at least fully launches. That being said, the scope of PoE 2 is huge, and from what I have played already, I can see it surpassing PoE 1 in pretty much every way. GGG will end up being responsible for a large portion of my gaming happiness over my entire life if that is the case.

I assume you work for free as well ?

I have few holes to dig up in my garden so would you mind doing it ? Of course I am not paying you cause I do not want to support that type of behaviour.

Look cause your mother gives you few dollars a week that does not mean people at GGG do as well and can work for free.

Server maintenance and storage space cost money, if you had any idea how this works you would not be making comments like this.

Very reasonable opinion. Especially in this modern gaming landscape, you have to take into consideration just how much GGG is offering for what little they ask of their players.

However, some good person gave me a key. So much thanks to him.

Ty to other who joined the thread even if their opinions is not similar to mine.
