Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Change Gender later?
So as this game seems to have only 1 gender per class, will there be an option later to change your gender after they implemented the other gender? Or are you stuck with your character gender from the start?

I doubt they'll implement male/female variants of whichever class. I know, believe me, I'd love for that to be an option, but that would involve a ton more work. Who knows, maybe they will, but I highly doubt we'll see, for example, a male Ranger or a female Merc.

Much like the first PoE - Genders are locked.

Since each character have specific dialogues I heavily doubt it

There's a bit more to it than that.
The models will be different size, or at least they should be if they do a proper job, which will impact how the armor fits not even considering the boobs here, so they'd need to rework all armor parts., effectively doubling the work.

While it would mean more modeling work to get clothing to look the best that it could, it's usually not much more effort than that. The rest is usually handled with scaling rigging. Need wider hips? Scale the hip "bone" along the horizontal axis, etc. Scaling changes don't normally require as much data overhead as something like "morphs" would.

As it is, I noticed last night that some upper-body armor is very obviously made with the intent to also accommodate female models. It was just for the more rigid looking pieces, but it was pretty obvious the piece was meant to be unisex, able to fit both male and female bases. In situations like that, it may be that they intend to introduce the option at some point to have female and male class members or just want to save on creating more overhead so that multiple classes/sexes can equip it with no extra morphs or different models needed. Just an observation.

If you start morphing the hips, the animation will need to be adjusted.... Like i said, there's more to it than what you said, it is quite a lot of work.

I hope they can add this in the future, I will never play with the Male classes, simple like that.

And it'sn ot just the armour pieces, It's all of the skins.

The only way I think that could happen is if they reuse the models of other classes. The issue with that is that there are only 2 female models (witch/sorc and ranger/huntress) so the for female, the class will have poor variations.
I think the devs should put in a character creation tool and let us choose gender, face and body type.

It might not be much but each of these characters are not just "generic" person. They each have a story and are actual people in this world, so they will be gender locked.

i agree, but have every choice just be the exact same. . .

:exalted:
Despite the critique people have lately for Diablo and the stanning they do for Path of Exile, PoE is designed with the Diablo framework in mind and in most of the Diablo games your character is gender locked because it was literally a SPECIFIC character with a backstory.

Although if you play hardcore that kinda goes out the window but it is what it is really.
