Charcaters name already exists

Dunno if i am just extremely unlucky but i have been inputting names for my character now for about 30min and every single name has been taken? I have tried really odd names with special characters like "ê" in it butt I am still told to change the name. So now I can not play the game because I can not create a character.

It boggles the mind that Diablo 2,3, 4, and Last Epoch can let different players have the same name yet POE can't? I don't know how those games do it, but I wish GGG would figure it out.

I tried over 100 names. All of them were taken. So I made the logical decision to uninstall the game and I got a $100 refund. If the devs aren't smart enough to let us name our characters whatever they want...then I don't want to pay them for their bad decisions. Other games like Diablo let you use the same name for multiple characters. Final Fantasy XIV forces people to use a last name. Other games have a hidden unique ID number at the end of your desired names. These devs obviously don't care about the importance of names....so I don't care about their game and will take my money somewhere else.

I 100% agree with this. They should either force last names, use a unique hidden number at the end of the name, or make the steam ID it's linked to unique so you can still name your characters whatever you want. I've already gotten my $100 refund for this game.

i wanted to create a witch with the name Zavathun. it was taken, tried with û ü ú ù but no luck. then tried Zawathun, and got it, my steam name zepulchure which i used for mercenary was not taken either. so i think you were just unlucky.

So far the game look like the best advertisement for Diablo 4 where the devs have sorted out the problems like this a decade ago, in Diablo 3

Bro not only do those games allow different players to have the same names, but each one of your characters can have the same name. That concept is mind blowing to the Path of Exiles 2 dev team.

The solution should be to allow for Surname at the very least. I'm doing a refund to.

To be unique is to be unique, when you're actually #4023 of the same name thinking you were original.

I've long accepted that original readable names in poe don't exist, Ywetbabh is now standard.

It does not help that they don't allow numbers, special characters or literally anything other than letters. In few days 99.999% names will be taken and there will be nothing but random bunch of letters to name characters with. Extremely amateurish move from the devs.
