Melee is pretty crap to level
The 1 flask even with regen charges and some decent gear for lvl 14 ..game play just is not fun at all..bosses are terrible for melee..can beat them but just not fun. Anyone else not enjoying melee?

Melee not good enough at leveling? you must be really kidding me. Its one thing to say you dont like the playstyle, but this has nothing to do with good enough. And with level 14 your build is just starting anyway. Beside of that, skill issues. People need to stop projecting their skill problems to class mechanics.

Having just gotten my warrior to level 50 after getting my ranger there, melee is just a lot less forgiving. I think there were times where my ranger's bad build and/or bad gear was easier to make work. You can definitely make melee work but the plan/execution just needs to be a lot more coherent than my twin-stick-shooter ranger experience.

Mid act 3, 42 lvl. Melee Chronomancer. Mace&shield.
Max elementary res, 50 chaos res, 40% armor (I just got to armor nodes so I expect to get 70% armor at lvl 50).
Passives: fire damage, damage to burning, avatar of fire, resolute technique (later I plan to grab accuracy nodes), stun build up, block chance. Later I want to grab zealot's oath and mind over matter as I have tons of life reg and don't use mana that much.
Game feels like breeze, melt bosses with perfect strike. Stun with jump attack with holy descent for regen and annihilate crowds with boneshatter. I didn't use flasks since the start of act 3.
My first character was minion witch and she needs to roll constantly to stay alive. This character can facetank almost anything except brocken bosses (blackjaw oneshotes) and deal pretty good damage.

I have an essence drain and a physical armour break build for comparison. Its insane how much better melees scale with gear. The armour break stuff deals over 400k damage already on level 69. At that same time i dealt what, 5k dps with essence drain? And that was with +6 to spell gems. Of course melees are supposed to be in more danger playwise, they are the frontline. But with enough armour and a decent weapon, the scaling is insane. It was nearly impossible to die in act 3-6 and the mapping start was no harm either. And again its not even supposed to be a good build.

You just need to understand how defense and offense stat works, get a good idea of what you play and smash everything one hit. The armour break build for example kills bosses in like 5-10 seconds. I never can do that with essence drain.

Essence drain on the other hand is of course really really sustainable and "tanky", due to high es pool and range attacks. You cant have everything (so I think melee is too strong, not essence drain too weak).

I would even say melee builds well played are way too strong in leveling phase. I cant give an opinion about 90+, but thats another story and wasnt the topic here. I was shocked how easy melee was to level.

Monk was a blast to level. I can't say how warrior feels, but monk melee is fun.
Kmany 16 dez. 2024 às 0:00
I have played warrior to level 20 and monk to level 29..
Monk feels more fluid in its moves. Warrior is easier.. just from the fact that it has more potential for armor instead of evasion.
In my experience armor is far superior.

I found a unique on my warrior where i can have a two handed weapon in one hand and a shield in the other so thats how i roll lol
ACt 1 boss could barely touch the warrior..

I'm in act 2 cruel with my warrior, I find that just staying in melee range and just roll when it does that sound effect to indicate a big hit is coming seems to work, I use a shield so I block alot of the regular attacks.

Monk is super unfun early. I think mostly because base move speed is still too low (compared to enemies) and bosses have far too few or too short attack windows. These are both easy to fix. I think they are close... but right now melee in particular early you can't really skill past you have to either over tune your character for the content or cheese strategies. Like on Monk most of my A1 progress was throwing out ranged ice attacks which kind of ruins character fantasy.

I had to drastically change my strategy to make it work.. I'm doing sword and shield now and it's a ton more viable.
there is no sword in the game
tolshortte 21 dez. 2024 às 21:32
lots of people will talk a lot crap but the reality is there is one viable build for warrior. they may lean into sunder or they may lean into stampede but youre not going to see a 1h weap dual wielding warrior cuz its simply not a viable build. you will struggle a lot then see a person on YT storming through maps and avoid the suffering.

monk doesnt look as bad but if those players say its similar ill believe them

thankfully this is EA and things are supposed to change

hahaha all the classic "i or someone i know who played 10k hours in POE1 had no problem gitgud" comments.
"punish me harder GGG daddy"

everyone with just a little brain work sees that warrior is waaaaaaay underpowered in early game and is very unfun to play

It's just a joke.

Melee warrior are probably painful on campaign if u troll and make a bad choice.

If u want to see how melee warrior are more less good than other, wait t15-17.

I've been leveling a monk and bosses are not really an issue for me, they get deleted in 30-40 seconds top if they don't have invulnerability phases, some die in less than 10 seconds if I crit hard enough.

The main issue I am running into is survivability. Its all well and good that I can stun lock a boss and kill it before it really has a chance to 1 shot me, but when I am fighting 10-20 mobs at a time that are all coming from different directions I am bound to get hit, and when I get hit I get hit. I can't use a shield because my skills require a 2-handed weapon, and I can't really build a ton of armor/hp very easily so I am really at a loss for what to do in terms of defense. Not looking up guides or anything though because that sort of defeats the point in my opinion.
