Endgame = Challenging > DPS/Gear check? | Progression Carries over to release?
Diablo 3 is the last ARPG I played, years ago. I remember getting into it quite hard doing keys constantly, I watched a video around that time of the endgame and realized...the endgame was just a LMB spam DPS gear check. There was no strategy, there was no avoidance, there was no soul in the endgame.

I like challenge. I took up the challenge when GameTrailers said Dark Souls was a hard game. Immediately went out and purchased Dark Souls, was pleasantly surprised...I like being challenged.

In the beginning of these ARPG games especially since dodge is becoming a mainstay (it's a good thing), they do seem to be more methodical and require some semblance of brainpower to avoid enemies rather than LMB spamming to win. BUT, when it gets to endgame that all goes out the window and DPS/Gear is all that matters. Tank all the mobs, just LMB spam with lifesteal or do so much damage nothing can get near you.

I just don't want the challenge that we see at the start of the game to go away...anyone agree?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Progression carries over from the early access to the 1.0 version? Huge waste of time and money if it does not, want to confirm before potentially purchasing.

I'm sure it will be a challenge. Vanilla POE (say 2015 and 2016) had sort-of easy bosses, but nothing as trivial as most of D3. The bosses added with maps and further expansions got a LOT harder. In high difficulties it's very common to get 1-shot by even a mini-boss in POE unless you have the right defensive build or know how to dodge. Last time I did any end-game stuff with a really tanky build I still got 1-shot for not dodging some nasty effect.

If GGG stays the course they had in PoE 1, then I think there will be a good mix of easy and hard bosses at the end.

It's hard to compare PoE to most ARPGs, but it definitely got some inspiration from D2. So as far as challenging endgame think more D2 than D3. I honestly don't see a single commonality between D3 and PoE outside of the fact they're both ARPGs with loot and a top-down camera.

This game play showcases what I DON'T want to support. No offense is meant toward the creator that posted this. I am strictly highlighting the game play of Diablo 3's endgame.

Basically the endgame in that games boils down to: pull everything before it leashes (if that's a thing, been a long time since I played D3) then AOE down typically by standing stationary. No thought process, no tactics, no strategy, just a DPS/gear check.

I hope POE2 did not go down this route when a character gets to endgame/BiS gear/talents/attributes/etc.
