Unable to reach checkpoint 1

I'm stuck at first red mist wall. I'm playing a warrior and the gem arrow is flashing asking me to left click the rolling slam gem. I left click it and then I can't do anything with it. This is so much fun.

Exited, switched from mouse & keyboard to WASD, was able to trigger the next tutorial phase and continue

After assigning your first skillgem, you also have to actually use it to progress. Got me first time as well, since I cleared out the area already.

You can also press escape, click Skip Tutorials, and you'll be free. There's almost no tutorials anyway, you get one more in town forcing you to do another skill gem thing and that's it.

Came searching for this. Absolutely nuts first time user experience. I'll go and try the suggestions in this thread. At least I'm not being a total idiot.

Game tells you to use skill, how freaking hopeless you ppls are that you can't press couple of buttons?
