Network spikes?
Anyone else getting network spikes? I can run other games just fine for pvp and stuff but on poe2 my network constantly jumps from 28ms to like 150ms+ making the game nearly impossible to play. It's nothing to do with graphics as I have well above the recommended pc specs

I ran a traceroute to the GGG server I last connected to (GGG gives you an easy guide on how to do this), to see if there were any bad hops, and there were. So I had bad routing. I tried a vpn to perhaps get around this. No go.

Double checked, and low'n behold, I was still using ipv4, which under normal circumstances would work well enough, but was probably a contributor to a host of issues leading to my lag spikes. Enabling ipv6 on my router, completely resolved my spikes. Stable ms now, buttery smooth.

Most people are still on ipv4. So if you have the option to ivp6, give it a go and see if that fixes things for you.

I tried everything, predictive, dns, vpn, nothing works, will get a refund soon
change DNS to 8.8.8.8, work for me
the server is not tank, build a server tank pls
This might be a specific solution that only worked for me.

I had massive lag spikes, going from around 30ms to high spikes every 10 seconds. It didn't matter what server I was on.

The only thing that worked for me was switching the router (I only use wifi on the PC). Going from the router that came with the apartment to a much more advanced one with wifi 6 (Asus model).

I'm not sure why this works, since I've never had any issue with lag on any other game with the old router.

Maybe this will help someone else. Now the gameplay is really smooth.

For you guys who is on WIFI.
Tried everything that people suggested on all forums - nothing helped.
Just did not tried one in my mind really stupid thing, connect my phone via USB to my laptop and use internet from my phone. And it work for me. Finally!!! been playing all this days with this unplayable spikes...

First, connect your laptop to your cell phone with a USB cable. Then, on your phone, go to Settings > Mobile network > Personal hotspot > More. Enable USB tethering, and then you should be able to connect your device to your mobile connection.
Unplayable after patch. Europe. worked fine before. Reinstalled game, reset router, tested with Ethernet and wifi, replaced "auto" with lockstep and/or predictive in config files, tested all kinds of instance stuff and of course gateway options by country. nothing worked for me.

Anyone having issues with the game jittering, stuttering, whatever you may call it, that are seeing the "network" performance metric spike every time this occurs I highly recommend the looking at the following links for information on the nature of the problem. They were written in regards to poe1 but are still relevant to this game.

It seems to me the root of the issue is they implemented the networking options but failed to make them visible in game. If you follow the steps below you can mess with your networking mode and it may resolve the issue.
In poe2 there are three options that I'm aware of "auto" which is default, "lockstep" and "predictive".

If you go into Options->Game and click the folder icon next to "Item FIlter"
It will open the folder that contains your configuration settings.

After this folder opens close the game client. You need to restart the game for changes made directly to this file to take effect.

Open "poe2_production_Config.ini" .ini may not be visible depending on your system settings.
You can open ini files with any word processing program, notepad++ is a solid choice.
Within this file about a 4th the way from the top of the page you'll find the following:

[NETWORKING]
networking_type=auto

where the word auto is present, change it to either predictive or lockstep.
examples for those intimidated by manually editing settings like this.

networking_type=predictive
networking_type=lockstep

For the best idea on what might work best for you I'd consult the wiki page, or just experiment and see what performs the best. Hopefully like me this fixes a lot of players problems with this issue. I can't remember the name but huge shout out to the member of the PoE forums that recommended this solution on a similar thread found there.
Don't forget to save the ini file and restart the client everytime you change this setting.

After the update the network spikes are even worse than before. 20 ms -> 1000+ ms, sometimes even disconnect. Great!

This has fixed my problem going lockstep.
same here. Sucks
Just starter game first time today, minutes ago, EU servers, it is unplayable, spikes from 40 to 1500, above settings did not help.
I use "revive on checkpoint" feature and eventually it gives me good server with 5 ms ping and without lag spikes. It's kinda annoying to do it everytime I switch map, though.
Same. I have massive Network spikes since last patch; died a few times on 2-3 white mobs coz I can't move for like 3 seconds. Game is unplayable right now for me.
waiting for patch
Same issue, bounces between 20ms and 1500ms constantly, was perfect until today and now it is unplayable
