yea, apparently there is no point in preloading the game, since it doesn't actually do that.

This is normal Steam unpacking, happens when you download games in general but for preloads it doesn't happen until the game is "released" as far as I know.

unpacking files, what you pre-download is encrypted and everything needs to decrypt onc ethe game unlocks.
This, depending on how fast your computer is, might make it slower than waiting for the actual launch to start downloading. Mine was unpacking at ~1.5Gbps, my usual download speed is around ~900Mbps so still worth it.
If your PC unpacks way slower than your internet can download, preloading becomes pointless.

don't worry once its unpacked and logs into their server it will detect the day 1 patch and you will have to redownload and unpack the game again
