Path of Exile 2

Do you still need a build guide?
Only thing that kept me from really getting invested in PoE1 was the fact that you almost had to religiously follow build guides online, since respeccing basically meant you had to create a new character and redo everything from scratch. Will PoE2 be more lenient in this regard, or will it be largely the same?

Respeccing is easier and takes just normal gold instead of a special rare currency like in 1.
They still don't want you to respec willy nilly of course, but it should be actually possible this time to adjust your build as you go, which wasn't in the previous game.

You never needee a build guide. I had no idea what I was doing in poe and still finished it multiple times with my terrible builds. Dont listen to people and just enjoy the game. If you played any arpg in the last years youll be fine.

I hope you still need to roll another toon if you want to make drastic changes. I enjoy making a character with a unique idea and seeing them slowly bloom, sitting in town endlessly respeccing takes away from this. I get why people would want this, but I hope poe remains the last bastion of this.

Yes
And since there will be no build guides, nobody is gonna play the game
It will be the first 0-player game on Steam

In Path of Exile 2, respeccing and build flexibility will be much better than in PoE1. Unlike in PoE1, where respeccing felt like starting over, PoE2 allows you to adjust your build without losing everything. The updated passive skill tree offers more customization, so you're not locked into a specific build. While guides might still help for optimization, the game will provide better in-game feedback, so you won’t feel forced to follow one. New skill gem and item mechanics also give you more ways to customize your playstyle without wasting resources.

So there's actual currency this time around?

For NPC vendors and such yeah there's gold, it can't be traded. Player trading is still based on items and crafting currency.

You have gold currency. Like in last expansion in PoE 1.

No I doubt it will be lenient.

Diablo2 you gotta do the right skill tree. Diablo 4 you gotta do the right skill trees. Any other game Guild Wars 1, gotta do the right skill tree.

Sure you can do your own build, when people wondering why you doing 2% dps, everyone else is doing 30% dps, and all those people get mad at you because you not holding your weight.

No brainer, you gotta do the meta. You gotta change build, its bad, 3% dps, not good. You not carrying the weight by a longshot, sorry but not sorry, kicking you to curb. We gotta get this boss downed, you not helping because you too worried about not doing meta. You wanna be rebel and do that kind of dps, we don't time for games like that.

Its 2024, you gotta play the meta, you gotta always be thinking min/max, min/max

Whisper, the next Baal run, its gonna be changed name, don't want that 3% dps person leeching on these runs, we need a better person for the next run.

The REAL QUESTION should be, is there going to be a DPS meter.
The REAL ANSWER should be yes. Because someone going to get it, people gonna use the 3rd party anyways. Should be in game because people gonna get a dps meter in game or not.

Having an in game dps meter, lets those funky build people, lets those 3% dps while everyone else is 30% dps, lets that person 3% dps know, you gotta change your build, there is a reason why not happy with you, look your dps, you open the in game dps meter, see, yeah that bad, get good change that build its bad.

Thats why there is builds online, because people don't play with baddies, they give you free build so you not bad and people start enjoy being around you because you aint bad, you aight.

That's like the exact opposite of how things are

Anyone who thinks you won't need to be either a good theory crafter yourself or need a build guide is snorting pure Columbian copium.

I mean nobody is saying that a preschool toddler will create a good build in the first 3hrs of the game going up
You def need some braincells for that
qsnoopyjr Dec 5, 2024 @ 8:53pm
You right, see thing is theory crafter means you gotta actually read and make your build.
But if you someone like just no time to read, gogogo, reading and looking at everything, is not your forte, AND you don't want to use the known good builds. That leads to disaster.

So you gotta be either or, and people not going to be happy to be playing with those 3% of the groups dps and your dps class players.

If you worried about people always tell you to lookup a good build and play it. Probably means your baddie. You got to take it in a different way.

We want to play with you, but you gotta hold your weight.
Rather than
Your garbage, do this or uninstall.

Play the meta, be a glass half full mindset and assume "we love ya, but carry your own weight, good place to start, using a meta build"

Like if you have skills that benefit from stuns, you need something to stun enemies
That sorta complexity
