what's the point of having pin over stun?
it costs a support gem to turn stun into pin, and pinned enemies can still attack in place, so pin is an objectively weaker debuff. it would make sense if pin was unconditional, but according to description is also has a build-up mechanic, so what's the point? is pin build-up quicker?

Stuns usually have a much shorter duration than Pin so if all you want to do is make sure your targets are all grouped up for some aoe bombs then pin is the way to go
But stun is also 4 seconds ?
I mean it is 4 seconds even on bosses. Just enough to do 2 warcries and watch the hammer fall before they run of to wherever.

* I think * Pin is easier to apply than stun, regarding Pin and Stun thresholds/buildup of mobs and skills.

Pin is a condition to trigger Combat Frenzy support gem to gain Frenzy charges.

Combined with Maim, mobs are super sluggish and easier to kite. This also makes AoE and ground effects more effective vs slow moving/pinned targets.

For Rangers, Pin bonuses are readily available on the passive tree and synergizes well with a ranged/kiting play style.

You can also think of Pin as an indirect increase to your movement speed if the mobs chasing you are moving slower or not moving at all.

Its best vs melee enemies if they cant move then they cant hit you, and i think it builds up faster than stun. Theres a unique boots that gives pin build up on all physical damage so you dont need the support. Also pin is very useful on Bonestorm ive found a short charge will lock down most enemies and firing full charges locks bosses down in a volley or two, ive also found it works great with combat frenzy and resonance as the pins generate power charges to fuel the Bonestorms explosive effect plus with ricochet and forking they seem to explode multiple times.

It lets you run a Warcry-centric build without said Warcry going on cooldown, and Pin seems to trigger much quicker than Stun.
