GGG would rather spend the time creating characters and stories they feel are interesting and that they want us to experience, especially when you look at the cultures that exist in Wraeclast. They are heavily inspired by Maori, which of course is very close to GGG, both being of New Zealand.
Thanks for checking out the mod :)
This is a really bad argument. I play an ARPG that lets me name my hero I identify as my hero, I always play as male (I'm also a biological male) when I can name my hero or create my hero. This isn't Marvel Heroes where you playing as famous popular characters. These are our avatars, we should have some choice so it represents who and what kind of hero we are. It was the biggest weakness in POE 1 and in Last Epoch, and should not be the standard in this day and age and with a company with the resources as GGG.
Apart from the hundred times per play session you see your character up close on the inventory screen.
That is one nasty character model.
Gotta agree with the OP and others on this thread - why not just unlock all of the character models and allow for linking them to a class?
Simple solution, as the complaint from the devs seems to be that 'fully customisable' = too much work, due to armour variants etc.
There is virtually no technical element to unlocking all the current models and assigning a class to them.
Even these AI-generated images of the Path of Exile 2 huntress [epiccarry.com] look a million times better than what they've come up with.
If the human artists are being trounced by an AI, you know something stinks.
Everyone wants their character to look decent, or at least look somewhat close to themselves.
I don't know why they can't unlock a few hairstyles and skin colour picker as well, as that requires no technical effort either and could be completed in a day. No need for a gender changer as I understand that would increase the need for armour variance - these other suggestions would not.
you payed for EA, not for your assumed right of choosing character genders.
That's not a definition of unplayable. You are just unwilling to play a playable portion of the game because you are sexist.
The female characters in particular should look like models. No one cares what the male characters look like - almost 100% of the audience for this genre is men.
MACA (make attractive characters again) needs to happen.
Original D2 had the right idea, in that the sorc and amazon were both attractive, until they 'modernised' them in the D2 remake.
I thought 'modernising' is dead now? Hasn't it collapse half the gaming industry last year and lately even Ubisoft.
Just make them customisable, with the possibility of attractive faces (too late for the bodies, I guess). No one cares about politics anymore in games - it's dead, done and dusted. The phantom minority that used to be offended by attractive feminine models for female game characters aren't making anyone any cash.
So start 'targeting' the rest of us who do.
It doesn't cost them nothing. It costs them development time.
