even poe 1 is easy as hell. you just click at monster and the character smash. no entry barrier at all.

Poe was more complicated than D4 but they said they have given more explanation in game along with simplifying mechanics. If I was you I would buy the smaller pack, see if you like the game and can always upgrade it in the future. They consist of cosmetics and points. Points can be used to get bigger stash space or cosmetics (you'll need the stash space imo if you go deep into end game) so keep that in mind.

The only things that could confuse players who are approaching Poe for the first time is the progression system, the skill tree and the gems for skills on your character.

But once you understand how it works and especially watching the video guides on the internet you will see that it is all very simple, the classic: "Easy to learn, hard to master".

A question of habit and practice like everything.

So one BIG difference between the Diablo series and POE is how loot works. In Diablo you just smash monsters and equip obvious upgrades. POE has a lot more "RNG" built into drops and you must also navigate the link, orb and skill gem aspect of it all. Diablo is def for casuals while POE is a "thinking man's Diablo". Part of me would prefer if POE2 was a little more "DIablo-ish" with the simplicity of drops and upgrades but it has a hard core reputation so I am preparing myself to use my brain when I first log in.

Hello,

I'll summarize, play it, you may like it or hate it.

I'm glad Path of Exile has a strong follow up and its existing fans go out of their way to defend/protect the game they love. That said...

I play a lot of ARPGs. I hate PoE. Why? As this person notes:

Again, I'm glad people love the game(s), but not being able to finish a/the game because the mechanics (do a search on: POE mechanics) alone will deter you as they are are as complex as quantum mechanics (unless you spend as much time or more in guides as you spend in the game). This game is often called an Excel simulator for good reason.

Do try the game; with individuals having different tastes and more importantly time to spend in a game you may find something you love (or hate).
