There are probably a load of hidden uniques that turn the minions on their heads in different ways. As well as probably unique only minions or something along the same lines as a Golem Build.
-Upon further research, it looks like they took minions out of the classes themselves and put their features in the game in general. So I imagine all of that which you're assuming is missing is actually a part of uniques, modifiers, charms, etc.
IDK! Curious to see!
of the general defensive ascendancy points plus the 50% increased effect of small passive skill ascendancy point. (aka stuff for minion dmg etc on the tree) and gemling ofcourse for the general (minion) related gem buffs ascendancy points plus the 30% reduced cost of skills might even apply to spirit reservation too.
Or even support your minions with chronomancer to make the minions hit more reliable vs slowed/paused enemies.
Warbringer looks a whole lot like Champion class from Titan quest with the ancestral warriors. That class was giga OP in Titan Quest.
right now minions and totems don't really have an associated ascendancy, which makes sense, considering templar isn't in the game yet, and not all the ascendancies are available yet
game is going into EA guys. it isn't finished. more things will be added. if you want minion support, then wait until the game is released.
this is the one problem with "early access", is the mindset of people thinking they are playing the game now. its a first impressions thing, and unfortunately people can't disassociate their first impression with the idea that the game isn't finished
While it's true that the Necromancer Ascendancy doesn't focus exclusively on minions, there are plenty of minion-related nodes in the passive skill tree that give players the freedom to build and strengthen their minions in various ways.
This design choice is meant to ensure more flexibility and prevent the game from becoming too pigeonholed into specific playstyles, allowing for greater variety in how players can approach their builds.
So, if you're looking for a minion-focused playthrough, there's still a lot of potential in the skill tree and other Ascendancies, even without a dedicated minion Ascendancy.
You might want to take another look at the ascendancy class. Ancestral spirits (minions) are also tied to totems. Wooden wall lets totems absorb 20% of the damage you take.
IT WAS THE BEST NECROMANCY IN ANY GAME EVER! My undead horde looked cool, it held aggro well enough, and killed everything in its path. Granted i'm still pretty early game but my skeletons feel more like an accessory than a weapon during boss fights.
