Path of Exile 2

GGG did minions dirty.
Every single other archetype is well supported by their relative ascendary class except from minions. I wish they release a proper minion ascendary. I really like playing necro but I think this time I will opt out and play stormweaver as infernalist feels like ass of a minion class. Bloodmage does not even have a single minion related node.

:(
From what I saw there were improvements on how spectres are handled, where you can bank bodies or something?

There are probably a load of hidden uniques that turn the minions on their heads in different ways. As well as probably unique only minions or something along the same lines as a Golem Build.

-Upon further research, it looks like they took minions out of the classes themselves and put their features in the game in general. So I imagine all of that which you're assuming is missing is actually a part of uniques, modifiers, charms, etc.

IDK! Curious to see!

Minions are vastly stronger now that they dont have a forced ascendancy.
dxdiag 4. dec. 2024 kl. 17:49
you can still try the minion approach with gemling and titan even, titan due to picking some
of the general defensive ascendancy points plus the 50% increased effect of small passive skill ascendancy point. (aka stuff for minion dmg etc on the tree) and gemling ofcourse for the general (minion) related gem buffs ascendancy points plus the 30% reduced cost of skills might even apply to spirit reservation too.

Or even support your minions with chronomancer to make the minions hit more reliable vs slowed/paused enemies.

Totems are basically pets, and warbringer looks like it'll work for that. Warbringer looks fairly tanky with the boost to shield block and the jade armor skill.

Warbringer looks a whole lot like Champion class from Titan quest with the ancestral warriors. That class was giga OP in Titan Quest.

nah warbringer isn't really for totems.
right now minions and totems don't really have an associated ascendancy, which makes sense, considering templar isn't in the game yet, and not all the ascendancies are available yet

game is going into EA guys. it isn't finished. more things will be added. if you want minion support, then wait until the game is released.

this is the one problem with "early access", is the mindset of people thinking they are playing the game now. its a first impressions thing, and unfortunately people can't disassociate their first impression with the idea that the game isn't finished

Minions are already very strong in Path of Exile 2, and GGG has intentionally designed things so that they aren’t locked to a single Ascendancy. This approach allows players to choose different Ascendancies and still have access to powerful minion builds, without feeling like minions are restricted to just one path.

While it's true that the Necromancer Ascendancy doesn't focus exclusively on minions, there are plenty of minion-related nodes in the passive skill tree that give players the freedom to build and strengthen their minions in various ways.

This design choice is meant to ensure more flexibility and prevent the game from becoming too pigeonholed into specific playstyles, allowing for greater variety in how players can approach their builds.

So, if you're looking for a minion-focused playthrough, there's still a lot of potential in the skill tree and other Ascendancies, even without a dedicated minion Ascendancy.

No but why is minions are the things that are not "locked" behind a certain ascendency. Everyother mechanic seems like has its own pure ascendancy. I mean I get it why they might want to make minions useful to other classes aswell but it should be through getting rid of necro. There should be one pure minion ascendancy.

Exactly, for instance, i`m gonna follow the Gemling ascendency build path... yes a Merc and not Witch for minions
I agree you should be able to, I just don't understand how this prevents necro being a thing.

You might want to take another look at the ascendancy class. Ancestral spirits (minions) are also tied to totems. Wooden wall lets totems absorb 20% of the damage you take.

Its not about preventing, my favorite char till day is the D2 Necromancer, but at the interview that i sent the link, the dev said that they wanna a different aproach to minions, not a straightfoward class...
So i`ts more like a design thing...
A lackluster design that doesn't do its primary function. Satisfy the fanstasy. Don't they always say "when balancing we try to make less strong things better than nerfing the good ones" well you don't need to get rid of necro to make minions more available to other classes.
Murph 17. dec. 2024 kl. 4:55
they had one of the best necro staples in arpgs and to get rid of it is a slap in the face for players, minions are no where near as flexible and are basically reduced to stacking a fire related set up not to mention the nerf on arsonist already, so let every other class lean on ascendancy while minions get plateud in maps ♥♥♥♥ u ggg

IT WAS THE BEST NECROMANCY IN ANY GAME EVER! My undead horde looked cool, it held aggro well enough, and killed everything in its path. Granted i'm still pretty early game but my skeletons feel more like an accessory than a weapon during boss fights.

You do realise this is EA right and not everything is available right out the gate. We are missing 6 more classes, 24 more ascendancy, a bunch of gems and gear.
