With Path of Exile 2 launching into Early Access soon, we've had a lot of players asking for pre-download to ensure they can play on launch. To accommodate this, we’ll be making the standalone PC client available for download at 5pm on Thursday, December 5th (PST), or Dec 06, 2024 2:00 AM (GMT+1) in your local time. Please note that when patching begins for Path of Exile 2 Early Access you may also have a few remaining files that you’ll need to update as well.

After downloading the Path of Exile 2 client, you won't be able to login until Early Access launches at 11am on Friday, December 6th (PST), or Dec 06, 2024 8:00 PM (GMT+1) in your local time. If you're not sure, check the timer on our website.

The client download will be available through the Path of Exile 2 website, but we'll also be providing a torrent with the client download at the same time.

We're still looking into making pre-download available for other platforms and will update this post when they become available.

Updates for other platforms:
Xbox - pre-download is already available. There will likely be updates on launch.
PlayStation - Founder's packs should go live 24 hours before Early Access starts. Purchasing one of these packs should allow for pre-download on PS5.

Probably not happening for Steam at this point. Who knows. You can however download the standalone client.

Was supposed to be yesterday at the latest per the FAQ. However, as of yesterday, GGG changed the date to be 5 PM PST tomorrow per some forum post.

How you authenticate with Steam if you download from GGG website ?

Community managers or whoever is responsible for this are doing terrible job. I don't understand why they just come out and say "Yes we are working on steam predownload" or "No, we can't do steam predownload because of reasons". Why keep us in the dark?

You can't. Pre-download is only for stand-alone client, not for steam.

I believe there is an option (as there was in the first one) to choose whether to log in in game with your GGG website account or link your Steam account.

If you buy one of the steam Early Access packages, you will also be able to pre download and log in to the standalone client.
I bought a package through steam and recieved this message on my account on the GGG website:


Your account is eligible for Path of Exile 2 Early Access! Thank you for your (or your benevolent friend's) support!

Your account will be allowed to log in and play during Path of Exile 2 Early Access.

You can download and play on the standalone client once it becomes available.

Your Early Access also includes keys to play on Steam or Epic which can be claimed below.
