5$ are 50 points
But there's a lot of different tabs that do different things, and how useful they are depends on what kind of content you do and how much of it you farm.
Some are considered pretty useless in PoE1, and won't be needed in PoE2 due to changes in content or content being removed.
Your stash tabs purchases are shared between PoE1 and 2 too.

If you buy the $30 or $60 pack you'll have enough points to buy a decent setup of tabs on sale once we know what will be good for PoE2.

Thank you for the info and link
Actually you can upgrade one of yours Stash Tab to Premium only for 10 points during the sale, instead of buying a premium tab. So you can fit exactly 300 points.
btw next stash sale is supposed to happen this weekend, unless it'll be different due to the fresh PoE2 release. Next sale is on December, 27 - three weeks into the season.
Only used half of my points included with my early access order.
