Well, I think they might be trying to find a way to differentiate between the ease and flexibility of skill games, and the passive skill tree, and to also make players have to make choices at points in the game.

These are just one of those times you need to step up and make a decision, rightly or wrongly. I think games need situations like that.

Actually, it’s a good thing. Not being able to change or remove runes adds more depth to the decision-making process, making every choice feel more impactful. It encourages careful planning and strategy, rather than relying on constant adjustments.

Nah, accept your choices

Depends if they are a frequent drop. If they are I think it is a good way to push people to change gear, If they are not it is stupid because it will push people away from committing to a gear and make them wait for the perfect base all the time.

that's insanely good, some of the runes will be common while some of the runes will be very rare and this will add them a value, something to trade for. Trading in this game is so fun.

But it will actually kill the gear for trading because you put a rune that I do not want. All of these are problems till the "guides" start to come tho. After that everyone will put exact same things in similiar gear.

Trading imperfect gear isn't a downside, it's part of the game's depth. It allows players to craft and modify items to fit their specific needs, creating a dynamic market where each piece can be upgraded or tailored. Imperfect gear encourages trading, crafting, and customization, making each item more unique and valuable rather than just a "one-size-fits-all" perfect item.

You can remove rune or change with something else for free, it will destroy the rune that is equipped..

Many, MANY players do NOT play to the 'meta', which is actually how the economy works. Those that don't care, or are ignorant, of the price/value of some of the runes can trade it at ridiculous prices (either too high or too low) and that is what helps the trading process in flux.

I have always tended to pop a few runes into gear somewhat randomly, but also take ones I'm not sure about and freely trade them. I never go that deeply into games or into meta builds, and therefore, the value I get from trading may be huge for my character(s) and builds, because the trade value of X is so high, I make loads from it that will benefit me in other ways.

"...everyone will put exact same things in similiar gear" <-- No. Many do, but many do not.

Its better way to make you feel the weight of runes. Imagine if they made rune pieces drop 1 by 1 and you'd need 300 pieces for 1 random rune.

So far OP, it looks like it's about 7-0 against you. :steammocking:

I like the idea of what your saying but loot is so sparse that its not worth risking making a wrong choice. I barely have any runes and I dont want to risk them on some peace of trash haha

that and + socket gems are rarer than unicorns.
