Its just 1080p after all.... that is kinda retro
Ultra settings are pointless, you pay way to much resources for almost no gain compared to a mix of high and medium, that will look identical to you in most cases
i7-10700KF @ 3.8 GHz
16 GB RAM
GTX 1660 Super
Win 11, 500 GB SSD
This PC I bought in March 2021 and still hasn't disappointed me in 2024 with recent games being able to run at 1920x1080 stable 60 FPS (I always cap it to this FPS) at maximum or near maxed graphics, using either native rendering or FSR Quality. If I need to lower graphics, they usually have negligible visual impact, like from MSAA4x to MSAA2x.
Some examples are:
Dead Island 2, Days Gone, Outlast Trials, Back 4 Blood, CoD MW2, Scorn, Dead Space Remake, Diablo 4, Undecember
Undecember, Diablo 4 and POE 1 are very good benchmarks, since they're very similar isometric action-RPG, and they remain steady at 60 FPS even in intense scenes.
But by how good the game looks and all those particle and smoke effects, not to mention the updated global illumination.
I'm starting to slowly doubt it.
Here's a breakdown:
Processor (CPU):
Your Intel i5-9400F is a solid processor, but it’s just a bit below the recommended i5-10500. Still, it should handle the game well, especially at 1080p.
Graphics Card (GPU):
The GTX 1660ti is well above the minimum requirement (GTX 960) and should perform well in 1080p, even on higher settings. It's closer to the recommended GTX 1060 level and should deliver around 60fps in most scenarios.
RAM:
You have 32GB of RAM, which is more than enough since the recommended amount is 16GB. You’re well covered here.
Storage:
The SSD is a good addition, though a larger SSD (like 500GB or more) would be preferable to avoid the game taking up too much space on a smaller drive, especially with the game’s 100GB storage requirement.
Monitor:
Your 75Hz monitor is a slight step up from the standard 60Hz but will still cap your frame rate to 75Hz. This shouldn't impact your 60fps target unless you push the graphics settings too high.
Overall:
With your hardware, especially the GTX 1660ti, you should be able to run the game at 1080p 60fps with medium to high settings depending on the in-game options. You might need to tweak some graphical settings if you want the absolute best performance, but overall, it looks like you’re well within the range for smooth gameplay.
I have enough space in my NMVe, but do you know if Path of Exile increased the size too much with all the new additions? From the release date to this last season? I have enough space but I also have The Outer Worlds installed there (nothing I can't change to HD) but I would like to have both games there.
Game's size has gradually increased due to the addition of new content. While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact size increase. Path of Exile has generally grown over time, especially with each new league and expansion.
The game now requires 100GB of storage space as a minimum requirement, but it might fluctuate a bit depending on updates and asset packs. If you’re concerned about fitting both Path of Exile 2 and The Outer Worlds on your NVMe drive, it’s good to check the exact available space and possibly move one of the games to another drive, like your HD, if necessary.
Since NVMe storage is faster than traditional hard drives, keeping Path of Exile 2 on it might be ideal for better performance. However, if the space becomes tight, you could always shift The Outer Worlds to your HD without sacrificing too much performance on that game.
From looking at the specs, you should be fine, the graphics are a little bit better from POE 1 to 2, but it shouldn't be like a massive difference
