Is this game a good CO-OP experience?
Or is that a distant afterthought?

They added couch multiplayer, that would be ironical if the game wasn't good in coop...

Here a video that might interest you.
As far as i have seen it seems to work great. Also streamers that got invited to play co op on a couch had good things to say about it.

Prob best with 2 people, I imagine it would get pretty chaotic with the 6 players together

If you like losing 10% xp on death (on later levels it's like 3 days of progression) to the incompetent group members - then yes, the co-op end-game is available :lunar2019piginablanket:

Is that only for end-game or campaign too?

Is the XP loss exclusive to CO-OP? That'd be pretty weird

coop is available everywhere (except in instances that are truly solo, I imagine the trials like in poe 1) and xp loss is in solo too.

What he is saying is that in endgame a bad player can indirectly kill you in several ways (like with a bad pull, wrong positioning, blocking you with ice walls etc.). It's like in any other coop game, except in poe since the game is fast paced, when it happens you might not have the time to react.

Path of Exile 2 offers a fantastic co-op experience, with party-based gameplay at its core. You can team up with friends to tackle challenging monsters, complete quests, and explore the world together. The game is designed around synergies between different classes and scalable difficulty, ensuring the experience remains engaging whether you’re playing solo or with others. Co-op is far from an afterthought; it’s a key part of the game’s design, making it a great choice for multiplayer fans.

PoE has always been great for co-op playthrough, including the ascendancy's in PoE1.
I am confident PoE2 will be equally great to start together with friends.
I am not sure if the revive feature will be avaliable through campaign (definetely not for endgame).

I'm a little skeptical tbh but we'll see. To clarify what I mean, the co-op in poe1 worked fine, it was just kinda pointless, like there wasn't anything in the game that ever had co-op in mind. There were never any interesting co-op mechanics where one person had to stay behind and defend the cargo while another goes off to get the key or whatever (just thinking of a random example). Granted such mechanics get really annoying if they're mandatory, but it'd be curious to see what happens if a little bit of effort were made towards content like that. I was thinking about the change to the atlas and how that may create an incentive towards groups? For instance, if running maps with a partner and one person dies, now there's still a chance to finish the map. But my recollection of the difficulty scaling from being in a party made this a serious wager to consider.. Idk, I have a few IRL friends who played a lot of poe1 same times as me and we almost never grouped up. 🤷

i had fun playing co-op in poe1 and since poe2 seems to play more tactical/slower id asume its even more fun, since now you wont have somone with +200% action speed aoe clear everthing 3 screens infront of you as often as you had it in poe1.

Nobody can say for sure yet, since nobody has got their hands on it.

I will say that it's almost guaranteed to be a better experience than PoE1's multiplayer since they put some time into improving it. Also just the fact that the action itself is a little slower should be better for co-op. Whenever I did co-op with my friend in PoE1 it was just whoever could insta-wipe the screen first and it didn't really feel like we we're actually co-operating.

You dont lose that much exp. That guy who responded to you is simply hating on PoE2, he is diablo 4 fanatic.

you only lose much exp on the last few levels, like 95-100 but those last few levels dont matter much, they are just min maxing. they are not required to beat anything

Before that the exp loss barely matters unless you have no hands, so feel free to just play and build your own opinion.

and yes the game is built with co-op in mind, but i would say 2 players might be the best.. 3 players may be the limit of whats the best experience, even though it goes up to 6.

Game is first of all single player game, coop is there, but it's not major focus.
