How does multiplayer loot work?

I don't remember much from POE 1 (and maybe it has changed), but how does loot work when you are grouped in multiplayer? Is there multiple modes? Does everyone get their own loot drops that aren't visible to the other party members? I've played so many games and MMOs with different systems, so just curious what's implemented here.

At least in PoE1 all loot is visible to the whole party. You can set the party to randomly lock drops permanently, for a limited time or just make it free for all. It sucks a bit for some resource drops.

Everyone gets their own loot.

Each additional player in the party increases the amount of loot that drops.

The party host can change how loot works. It's either:
Free for all - anyone can loot anything
Temp allocation - Only the player it dropped for can loot it temporarily, after a short period anyone can loot
Perm allocation - Only the player it dropped for can ever loot it
